I love land yachts, or more formally "personal executive cars". The bigger and fancier the better. It's all about comfort. The always have enormous engines, largely engineered towards smoothness, but with enough torque to launch a chintzy hubcap down the road. The best thing is the looks, always made to look as imposing and impressive as possible - massively long, enormous overhangs, sharp edges, huge chrome grilles, vinyl roofs, opera windows, two-tone paint, glorious. Oh and whitewalls obviously, you can afford it. My dream is one of these bad boys, Lincoln Continental Mark V, shown here in crazy two-tone "Bill Blass" collector edition mode: Obviously I'd want to specify the 7.5L V8, which still only has something like 200hp. Then I'd just drive around enjoying the ludicrous interior: These sorts of things seem to get looked down on a fair bit for their lack of speed and linedancer image, but I seriously love them. Just get in and potter around with a selection of funky 8-tracks, obviously whilst wearing some horrible golf trousers, a tight sport jacket and mirrored aviators. Bliss!

Probably right there Seth, I can't think of much else. Maybe the PC Cresta/Viscount at a push. What is difficult is thinking of a 2-door booted equivalent, all I can think of are coupes.
That's kind of why I like all the big 2-door American land yachts, just the sheer audicity of having such a huge car clearly aimed at ferrying around 1 or 2 people 90% of the time amuses me. Excess in the extreme, I love it!

I WANT A 420G!!! I want one NOW!!
Won't fit in a standard garage, the widest British production car (is it still so?)
I know where there is a couple of them... its just a matter of beer tokens and time.

Love these I'd agree with the closest we got here was the Zodiacs @ about 14-15' J cars were always quite small but i'd say the Cedrics and Presidents were probably the biggest from over there (i think my 280C is about 15' long)

the Beast is hardly a land yacht.
The UK equivalents are all the Mulliner Bentleys, Rolls Royce Corniche and Camrague, etc. Jag 420G for sure if we are extending the defintion to include 4 door saloon cars. We didn't really do cheaper "land yachts" than the big expensive stuff. Maybe Bristol and Alvis and the like should get a mention in there too. Big, powerful, wafty cars.
Calling the Zodiacs "land yachts" is like calling the Mk1 Escort a "muscle car". Aircon wasn't even an option on the Zcar was it?

'Land Yacht' is more a statement of size rather than options no?
