Lowering Leaf Springs?ChasR

I know you can buy another set, but I am after lowering what I already have, considering that they were new when I bought the car (brown MGB).
Now, I heard that the way to do it is that you flip the main leaf with the eyelets on it, which will drop the car by 2.5" which is around what I am after. I could do with softer springs on the rear, but on a Rubber Bumper car, I believe that is not possible unless you go for a Hoyle rear end or Coilover conversion (both edging towards £1k).
So the question is, is this technique doable for lowering, and if so, how do I go about it, and are there any side effects to this method? Failing that, what are the other ways of lowering a car with leaf springs (buying new ones is not an option as I believe that they are no longer stocked as going 2.5" lower, just 1").
Also, if you do lower a car, would you leave the rear ARB on, or ditch it as suggested by many?

Flipping the top leaf is probably not a good way to go, bearing in mind the leaf arch is now in the opposite direction and will not work effectivly, the correct way to do this would take the spring to a Springsmith and get the eyes reversed

I have used the above method on a few oldies - i thought it was the 'norm' when lowering leafs. I've even seen wood blocks used on a volvo

Lowering blocks I did consider, but even they only go down to 1" on a 'B, although I could look into custom items . One thing though, I thought lowering blocks helped induce axle tramp. With me considering more power (near double what it is at now), surely the problem would be exaggerated somewhat? But if that is myth, it may be th way to go.

I think you'll be okay up to 2 1/2". I'm surprised you can only get up to 1" on an MGB
There's always the option of removing a couple of leaves

You can get 2.5" lowered springs for the C/B cars but not for the R/B cars and they are not interchangable due to the mounting points.

lowering blocks increase the leverage that the axle casing has on the spring,,,,hence the increase in axle tramp through it winding the spring further,,maybe some upper control arms could be fitted reasonably easily along side the lowering blocks

have the springs decambered a mate did it on an esort years ago but I don't know who does it was about to say that. Decambering basically means flattening them a bit but you need to make sure they don't go beyond flat once loaded on the car. Anywhere that makes leaf springs should be able to do it. I know a good place in the shadows of Wembley Stadium and hope to visit them myself soon. Added advantage with this is you don't get scrub line issues with ubolts/brackets hanging below the line of the wheels that can happen with tall blocks.
