	Have dreamed of one of these for years, just found this one for £4000.00 plus freight. Know what it is ?? We knew them as AMC, or Dodge Ramblers. Blurb..... 4.1 Automatic (6 cyl. Straight) Tri-Matic Gearbox with Original Chev. engine Sunset Red exterior with White Vinyl Roof White Leather interior Mag Wheel Tow Bar Radio/Tape 139600km Roadworthy and Licensed until January 2009. Excellent Condition, only one owner since 1975! Price: R55 000 negotiable Check the wheels !!!!!!!! Along the same lines..... Know these ?? Chevrolet Komando. 4.1 straight 6. 1972 vintage. Priced around £2100neg Or this one for £400. I know which one I would go for ;D

	They were the Rambler Hornet (4-door) and Matador (2-door) down here. As for the Komando it looks like it is all HT Holden www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/model_lineup_holden_HT.htm

They sold HQs to Japan as mazdas with rotary engines. They failed as a massive car with a little motor is not a good idea. cheers

	same door handles used on all AMC products from like 1968 to 1987 probably! Rambler branded AMC products were sold in the UK as RHD "native" editions during the 1960s. The RHD version was possible because AMC had the contract to supply the US Postal Service with all its vehicles and the USPS liked RHD vehicles so that its posties could get out onto the sidewalk for safety reasons. Hense it made economic sense to tool up to make proper RHD versions they could sell over here, and as most AMC stuff used the same dirty bits the same steering assembly works on a Rebel, Marlin, Ambassador, Matador, etc. However AFAIK the only RHD models sold here were the Rebel and the Ambassador. I had a RHD '67 Rambler Ambassador, which interestingly in the USA was badged as a AMC Ambassador by 1967 but the branding was different in the UK. Another interesting thing is that AMC and Renault were involved in joint ventures as early as the late 60s in that the AMC Rebel was built in France by Renault and called the Rambler-Renault Rebel. Again the Rambler branding survived here longer than it did in the USA. I'm not sure when the Rambler-Renault thing died out. RHD Rambler/AMC stuff sold in the UK was built in Kenosha, WI USA not France. AMC continued to sell their Jeep line as RHD here in the UK in limited numbers until the 1980s. FWIW there was a AMC Hornet SST 4 door with the 4.1 straight six in it sold for like £200 up my way 9 months or so ago. There was also a 2 door coupe version for sale for not a lot of money with the 304 V8 (about 5 litres) which was the same as the one in the Bond film (that does the "corkscrew" jump across the river) IIRC it was £1495, rust free import which had sat here a while. You can get AMC V8s up to 401" and they all fit the same mounts etc.

	Cool infor AK, After a night of restless sleep, and some thinking, I do realise that this car would have to be spectacularly good to make £4k and then still be taken from where it resides to the coast, and loaded, even as a RORO and adding the cost of ferrying it here, I would not tink one would ever get your money back. 	I think you would lose your shirt on that if it cost you £4K to get it here. I doubt even a 2 door V8 version would break the £3K barrier in really nice condition in our market. £2500 "feels" the money, with £1500 being the top end for a saloon I reckon, probably a grand or so. But then I am notoriously poor at spotting what junk people will pay over the odds for.
