I bought my MGB knowing that the sill end filler was missing (it gave me a chance to check the inner sill, which thankfully is fine, and unlike the brown one, it didn't simply have a massive patch welded over it.
I finally got the sill finisher, which comes with one hole allowing you to plug weld it to the inner arch. I planned to make another to allow me to use two plug welds, but that still leaves the problems of the sides. I will be able to weld one side, but not all of the way down, unless one plug weld (may be possible but room is lacking) would suffice.
As the pic shows it is there to keep the curse word out, not a strengthener as far as I can tell. So I was wondering there is some sealing adhesive or adhesive suitable for the job that I could use to seal the sides in with. I guess these were original spot welded in, but even with a MIG, it would be near impossible to get to the flanges inside and plug weld them.
It seems different people do it different ways. Some do it with the outer sill on and plug weld it (but I cannot find out where they do it from). Others MIG it from two sides (4 to it) with the outer sill off. With my outer sill having been replaced not so long ago, I am not so sure on what to do.
In case you are wondering where the filler lives, it is at the very bottom of the wheelarch and sill, as you can see in this pic:
And here is a pic of the panel that I have.
Discuss. It is easy to see why many people here just patch over the arch and sill now .
And no, I wasn't enough of an idiot to order from Moss (although I have recently found that there's no real price difference between anyone now .
