Man those stripes and the chalkboard paint are so damn cool.
If you wanted a bit of lengevity, you could clean everything and blow it over with 2k matt lacquer. You'd have to re-gloss your stripes, but would help with the paint stains (unless you like the look of course!).

biturbo228 that's not a bad idea although I'm happy for now. I'm trying to embrace a different attitude to life that includes losing the strive for perfectionism (if you'd seen the car up close you'd be thinking 'Perfectionism? What is he on about!?') that's held me back and added unecassary anxiety to daily life. That includes embracing the moment and enjoying things for what they are. Yeah there are scabs and dents and bits and bobs but it tells a story and I won't be worrying about scratching the paint anymore. I'll change it up again in a few years I'm sure. Just enjoying it for now! Just booked an mot for next week - love a bit of pressure to help get some jobs done - I'll be back on it tonight! Plan is as follows: Replace fan relay Check coolant quality Check oil amount (may behave overfilled a little) Polish wheels White letter front tyres (even though I know it comes off and it's a ballache to do 😂) General pre mot check of lights/electrics etc. I'll update later to see how far through the list I get 👍

No point on having a hobby if it stresses you out.

Precisely. I've always loved this hobby but my general outlook to life has often meant I've not enjoyed things to the fullest for stupid reasons. I'm basically feeling more mellow about things after some much needed reevaluation and trying my best to have a more laid back attitude in general. Anyway - enough psychology - more cars! I'll update later/tomorrow depending what time I get in tonight 😂

Great attitude 'perfection is the enemy of progress' and all that. If anything this style of car is improved by a bit of a rough and ready attitude

I'm blown away by how good those polish stripes look, who knew fading paint could be such a bonus?

heathrobinson yeah I was made up the second I did a test spot on the bonnet - I knew it was gonna look 'right' and I get to keep the genuine patina. I'll change it up again at some point but I'm certainly loving the new look! Just need fit wipers (bought the wrong ones so collecting some today) and replace the fan relay. MoT (attempt #1) on Tuesday!

Threw a can of super unleaded in the tank and fired it up for the first time in about 3 and half years! Fired up well but idled a bit rough... It never used to do that! It didn't take too long to figure it out though; checked a ton of vac hoses and boost pipes and it was all spot on - then I saw the brake booster pipe! I whizzed the one from the Eunos track car and fired it up again and it's as smooth as you like 👌 I took a little vid of it running and sent it to a couple of my mates. They noticed it spat a flame so screenshot it for me 😎🔥🔥🔥 I also sheathed the fuel pump wiring and cleaned up the earths at the back lights. It's all ready for an early morning trip to the garage. 🤞

Turns out there's a valve in a Eunos booster pipe. Just drove all the way to the garage with no servo! Dude at the garage is going to find a pipe to put on it today 🤞
The drive in the wet with no brakes was....
awesome 😂

Celebratory Instagram filter style pic of fully MoT'd turbo Capri 💪 Passed first time! I'll be taking it out for a long drive tomorrow to get some pics and celebrate properly.

Just got back from a 30 mile drive about - bloody great fun. At first, under hard boost, the clutch was slipping. I took it easy for a bit and then tried again after about half an hour and it was fine. I guess it glazed over a bit after being left for 3 and a bit years. It was pulling hard after that! It was just great to be behind the wheel again. I forgot how insane it feels under full boost - it's borderline terrifying 😂 I wanted to get more pics but I didn't really want to stop driving it. The brakes pull to the left a bit under hard braking so that's something to look at but overall a successful shakedown. 👍

Such a cool car It's got a real Mad Max vibe to it, but the first cult film when they didn't have the budget to really apocalypse-up the set so they just had mean looking road cars looks fantastic.

Cheers fella - I'd say it's probably in its most badass iteration to date to be fair! I'm loving having it just sitting in the garage for when I need a blast to blow the cobwebs away and keep the stress bucket from over flowing. It's the best therapy there is, hands down!

Nice little addition to the FORD badge. I used to write Capri in this script all over my school books! 😂 I've got a set of FORD badges for the bonnet too.
