Only just seen the drag slip post. I can make sense of it having won the oldskoolford drag championship in 2010 with my old pinto Capri. Your 60ft is bad... Lol. You need 1.7 or so and an LSD and 13" slicks will help you achieve this. Crossing the line at over 100 mph tells me your car could easily run a 12 sec with a slipper and slicks with a burnout. You could try some 15" slicks on Mondeo steels like we did as you have twice the power we did. Yeah - it was atrocious off the line, I knew I was losing so much time! You can see that in the pic against the Triumph above. It would just bounce and spin one wheel for most of 1st gear. In all 10 runs I didn't get one launch that felt 'right'. Once I was in 2nd though it was absolutely motoring! What size tyre would you recommend on the 15" steels?

Ideally try some 15" slicks but if u want treads, get the steels banded and fit the widest Toyo R888's you can get. That will be over half a second off alone!

Once I was in 2nd though it was absolutely motoring! What size tyre would you recommend on the 15" steels? How wide are you running on the back now , 275's ? That should be ok with an LSD. I ran 1.9 60ft times on 235's . Slicks are better but they really test your drivetrain out and remember Radial front / X-ply rear = bad. You are making life difficult for yourself with a manual though

Running 265/60/15s at the mo - reckon they'll do the trick? Or is the size hurting the times?
Manual's all part of the fun for me!

I would try both 13 & 15" steelies, ideally 7.5" wide with 205\60 Toyo R888 tyres coupled with an LSD with 3.9:1 ratio. I guarantee that mid 12's are achievable with that power but you'll need to warm the tyres plenty.

I've got a 3.75:1 ratio and I'll probs keep that and bolt the LSD to it when I can find the funds.
Missed out on a cracking pair of wide wheels that would've been perfect 😑. Obviously, I'd need a spare pair if I was putting slicks on. I'm hoping some random second hand 15" slicks will pop up on ebay. I also want to make sure they fill the arches so it still looks right 😂 so they'll have to be chunky monkeys, too!

The ratio is fine for road use if you see over the ton very often but is deffo restricting your acceleration. We had half your power so were running 4.7:1 but that's too extreme for you. 3.9 is a compromise from the ideal 4.1 you ideally need with your set up.

Well took me a couple of hours or so but I thoroughly enjoyed reading that. Great story mate. Just goes to show what you can achieve when you persevere. Have you officially caught the drag bug then? Will be looking forward to seeing how she evolves.

Fit a Auto box, You wont miss a shift, You wont break the axle It wont drop of boost when you change gear, Easy to launch by building the revs up against the brake.
My Auto cossie anglia on 195x45x16's street tyres has run 12.64
It has got a LSD though

My Auto cossie anglia on 195x45x16's street tyres has run 12.64 It has got a LSD though I wouldn't want an auto, I find them too boring! If it was purely a drag car I'd consider it, but I much prefer manuals. My daily is an old 300bhp XJ8 and sometimes I even wish that was manual! It's literally 1st gear that couldn't cope. It just bounced and spun one wheel, whoever I was against would momentarily get ahead off the line, and then I'd pull them back in in 2nd. It deffo needs an LSD!

I think do things in stages that way you can get the enjoyment of incremental improvements and you need to outlay a pile of cash straight away. Fit a decent lsd first And see how you go. I would also fit a tailshaft loop. Remember if or when you put slicks on they will find the weakest link in the drivetrain and with it being a manual it will be harsh on the entire drivetrain. When you cross the line (which I assume your in 4th) where are you rpm wise? Near redline or well below peak power?

Am under bonnet pic I forgot to upload the other day. Not looking that tidy under the bonnet either! Fancied having a go at the lowrider lace-effect paint a lithe while back, just to see the result. Looks kinda cool

Cheers mate, I am indeed!
Yeah, I'm on the lookout for a Pulsar to nick its injectors.... Although I aim to lock the back end before I up the power, kind of pointless to do it the other way around!
