I'm on the hunt for another project car, ideally pre 1992 so non catalyst, RWD and either diesel or carburettor preferred over injection but willing to consider anything. Budget wise I'm trying to keep it tight so £250-300 is my absolute limit although as ever less would be nice! (sadly the previous price of scrap has seen people believing everything is worth £200+ for fragging and there's so few bargains around this area ). What happened to the days of finding clean one owner cars for under £50!! Not too stressed about a bit of work, but not really after another weldathon(I've already got two of those as works in progress) but mechanical work isn't an issue although it would be good if I could drive it home since I haven't got a trailer at the mo. Can't collect anything before Xmas but can do it between Xmas and new year - so let me know what you've got!

Bump in readiness for the new year.
Had a little bit more time to think about this and reckon a RWD volvo, ideally pre 91(to quote the Blues Brothers "It's a model made before catalytic convertors so it'll run good on regular gas"), definitely a manual gearbox and in the perfect world with a carburettor stuck on it for fuelling.
Reckon it's a 2 or 7 series from that brief - not sure how easy it would be to convert an auto to manual but if it's easy then I'd consider that as an option!.
As stated in the first post prefer something I could drive home due to acute lacking of movement facility!!
Many thanks to all and merry christmas

I have a volvo 240, but it more than you want to spent (although it is in good condition) has tax and long test (aout 9 months MOT) FSH etc 2.0 injection (K jet) 5 speed manual, sitting on chopped springs, it is my daily driver
£500 and the other end of the country though?
You would get a 240 or 740 for that sort of dosh though.

Distance isn't a huge issue if it's a driver - train down drive home nothing too complex there, long term I'm looking at some long distance roadtrips with the right vehicle(all will be revevaled in time) and I'm sure there will be some shoddy quality fuel getting put in so carbs would be preferred - in no great rush(first leg of the journey wouldn't be until August - loose quess is 5000 miles in 10 days) but if I put the requirement out there then hopefully something will turn up in time for me to give a good going over.
Many Thanks!
