Hi All Just wondering...........what with the 'credit crunch' and all related stuff. I wonder what will be considered the next 'scene van',or indeed whether there will be one at all? I have always hankered after a splitty vw ,but unfortunately the prices are always too high for me,but wonder how their current prices will fare? Regards..........

Logically it'll be the next VW to come of age, but personally I'd be looking at a Caravan or Hiace...the earlier the better. ![](http://mooneyes.co.jp/photo/aon08/report/b/car/IMG_0394.jpg) ![](http://mooneyes.co.jp/photo/aon08/report/b/car/IMG_0060.jpg)

T25/Wedge/T3 or whatever you want to call them are already getting quite pricey, they're coming on strong as 'scene' sadly. Good news for unemployed builders though, just sell your van complete with rust and dings at a VW show.
I think it'll be the good old Commer van, overlooked for so many years.

I'm beginning to thing the Sherpa/Freight Rovers will have a bit of a comeback very soon.Odin has a very cool blue Combi (which we used to hoon around in as kids) with what I believe is an MG Montego lump in it.
Think the Hiace vans are starting to become recognised, which is a shame.
As pillock said tho,the t25s are starting to become quite sought after, prices are already going up

T25s already have tremendous scene tax, which is a shame as I rather like them. My dad had a crewcab like this, a 1.6D which was great for being slightly quicker than a narrowboat and blowing its cylinder head gasket ![](http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b199/erroneous_/Spotz/P9143342Small.jpg)

Interesting choices ,but why VW's? Bearing in mind financial situation /job cuts, how long before we see a distinctive price drop for scene stuff....6 months?

TBH I don't think its all gonna drop as much as people think. The people who have all the hihg end splits and stuff anyway, they're all luxurys to them and, unless they really need to,they won't be selling them I don't think. We'll see a drop I think, but not a massive one.

Was just wondering ,as supply (too many)and demand (low)will increase.

I think scene cars will see a dip in prices as some people sell them to free up cash, the others will hang onto them and weather the storm. They will be slightly more affordable for a while (but still overpriced imo) and as the economic outlook improves, people will want to get back into project car ownership etc and prices will end up back in the clouds.

Mk1 Escort prices haven't dropped yet so i doubt VW ones will, i think most of the owners would rather sit on them than take a huge loss, VW vans will always be popular, just being a VW seems enough to inspire loyalty, J stuff though looks quite good so will goupwards in value, i cant see the Sherpa/LDV being valuable anytime soon, its just to damn ugly to ever have huge following, transit is much prettier and the early ones are already expensive.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

Is there a forum for these vans then? I think they arent too bad shape wise (always liked 'boxy' lines) but the engines apparently are slow (but probably strong?)

Old Trannys FTW! lol
Guy at work sold a 1972 camper last summer for £7k, was an ex Italian Ambulance, He paid £3k for it 4 years before! He then brought a bright yellow ex AA T4, which he wants to sell cause the tax is £400 a year! Killer! But he recons ALL vans are worth a little more than other makes as long as it's VW!
I like J vans my self (exept that nissan Serina type thing u know the one LDV badged as their own for a while). My Bro in law has a Mitsu Delica, I know it's not as van but as good as and they have quite a following and it's a pretty cool tool!

I've debaited one my self, Insurance is good even tho they're imported. Mechnical parts are pretty easy to get hold of because of the Shogun. Always pleanty of the other bits on ebay. Price aint too bad for the amount of toys. Tax is cheap cause of age compared to newer 7 seaters in high bands. My bro inlaw uses his for towing and pulls pretty much anything within reason. Onlydown side is the MPG is shocking!

Early VW LTs. They've been overlooked among VW fans for a long time now, but a few enthusiast-owned examples are beginning to crawl out of the woodwork...
