just wondering if seven style cars are considered retro here? its a fairly old design so i consider them retro but they're still being made today so just thought id check for when i finally have enough green to get one. doesnt matter if they're not as ill still have my golf.
also how do they take speed bumps (if at all).

IMO they're not retro, maybe in the right colour and with flared arches instead of cycle wings but I think the design still looks a little too modern. As for speed bumps, my brother has a K series 7 and has to crawl over the low ones and avoid the higher bumps altogether

werent they designed in like the 50s or something (the lotus ones anyway)? looks like they did a good job if they still look modern today. thats why i was debating whether they were retro of not, old design but still look modern.

I think they're about as retro as you can get! The (proper) Mini, whatever the year of manufacture, is considered retro so it should follow suit that the Lotus 7 and derivatives are! However, I don't really think there's a retro "fashion council" round here that decides what is retro and what is not. If you like it goaferboy, and you think it's retro, then that's good enough!

yeah i was just getting peoples oppinion on whether its retro or not. for me its a bit of a grey area. i think it depends on who make them. caterhams tend to look more retro than, lets say westfields IMO.
and believe me nothing is going to stop me getting one (unless i get bored of the idea and find another crazy idea, but 2 months and I'm still slobbering over them on autotrader. thats got to be a record). i think iv said it before, i don't buy cars because they're retro, i buy them because they're good. its just retro ones are cheaper and tend to have a certain charm to them

From my point of view...The Mini came out in 1959, and lets be honest when the last one left the production line in 2000 the basic shape was still the same, and as a car you can't get more retro than a Mini.
I'd consider the 7 as a retro car, even though they use modern power plants the basic design hasn't changed, to the untrained eye, e.g. some of my mates that no nothing about motors can't believe a 7 can wear e.g. an 04 plate because they look so dated.
They have so much character and they are a real drivers car, I'd love to own one eventually. Even the base 1.6-K series with 120 odd brake still goes like a rocket.
Over priced though in my opinion!

second hand on auto trader they go for around 6-7 grand (the westfields anyway) with the lowest iv seen being 3800. what makes me really want one is the performance/price ratio. plus its pretty much the closest thing you can get to a bike without having to get another liscence or the risk of falling off

Pretty much retro in my book. And I think speedbumps vary between model types and engines fitted my brother in law has a dutto with a 4age, a Locost with a 4age and doesnt have a problem with either

Quality, my old smoker! despite the modern honda engine and the odd dash of carbon fibre, I reckon it is retro enough! BB
