I have just found out that my flatmates girlfriend has a Bluebird, on a D plate. When she told me that I thought it was cool but she didnt seem to have my enthusiasm for this late 80's bit of Japanese tin. I told her that it could be a cool car with small investment. Now my knowledge of J-cars can be a bit sketchy at the best of times and so am asking you what can she do? and most importantly lets see them pictures. ;D;D;D

I have a weird attraction to the Bluebird of that particular vintage! Although finding one that's not got interstellar cabbie-mileage on it is a problem these days! Love the estate, and the saloon looks tidy too. Not 100% sure about the hatch but I'd take one if it was offered! I think I'm gonna sneeze........ BOSOZOUKU!.... that's better

Here, Penski, your link doesn't seem to be working, that item must have been taken down or something? There used to be a D registration Bluebird estate a couple of doors down from where I used to live, although it was replaced by a Passat a few years ago. Shame, I always thought it looked quite tidy for its age, although I'm not normally into Bluebirds of that age. Low budget tinkering? What sort of thing does she have in mind? A car that's still a useable, practical daily smoker but is slightly cooler and nicer to drive? I'd say just the basics like tidying up any bodywork and interior that needs done, a good T cutting of the paint and a spray of Back to Black or something around the interior and outside black plastic and tyres to get it good as new, a good servicing to get it up to good health, then maybe a little lowering of the suspension, possibly a change of wheels to a nice set of alloys if she wanted, maybe a better set of brake pads and some good brake fluid, I'd say a general tidy up and maybe some simple upgrades and she'd enjoy the motor a whole lot more.
