or rather, death OF the modern...?
wife just phoned... clanking noise, smoke, warning lights, oil under car...
AA have just attended and are getting it towed into da garage. Not to be pimped, but to hopefully be fixed cheaply.
Fluids are supposed to stay inside the engine. On the floor is a bad sign.
4 year old PT Cruiser Turdblower Diesel.
Bet it costs more to fix than my Corolla cost to buy...

Similar thing happened to my mams accent, but that was due to the oil filter not being tight enough and losing its seal. Hope its something simple like that

the fun part is... the wiring in our house was pretty much condemned, so we are having a full rewire. That started yesterday. Costing almost as much as the PT Cruiser did to buy LOL...
But on Saturday the central heating packed up. And the guy who's been from the home cover place today now says he can't repair the boiler/valve/jobber because so much of our vintage 1930s pipework is shot, a couple of the rads are crapolla and the main stop cock is also faulty. Some other bits need to be replaced as well. Minimum. "I'm not a plumber mate, you need a plumber"
so I am looking at the possibility of a mostly new central heating system as well at this rate. Another couple, maybe three grand?
Mrs Ku might need to be on the lookout for a '86 Corolla of her own at this rate.
The gods of motoring smite me once again.
Perhaps the universe is out of ballance with more than one car working in our household?
I think I might just go stuff my self with thai food now to make me feel better about this all.

Bumhats. Want my mondeo? I don't. Hope it doesn't cost too much akku plus I know of an awesome plumber! PM me if you want the number, he replaced my old central heating pump for £50 including parts! He has also come out on a SUNDAY and talked himself out of a job (It was some sealant) and refused payment for coming out! Anything that I can do to help, LMK. Rysz.

going to see if the plumbing work needed is covered by the home cover insurance cack. PM me details of your chap though, might be handy should I need to get someone in to do repairs before they will do the "emergency" repair

Tis cheap indeed, I paid more than that for just the pump when I changed mine last year... Have a pic.

Sounds like it could be the turbo that's spat it's dummy if it's anything like VWs cr*p they fit as standard. We sold a brand new golf (VW main dealer) earlier in the year and it broke down whilst it was being delivered to the owners home, approx 15 miles!

Gremlins? Gads, from frying pan into the fire, then! Cheer up, AK. It might be just a leak, tomorrow dawns a new day of fun. And radiant hotwater systems are the best, you'll get it sorted and be warm soon I hope.

cheers charlie. Its eaten £400 worth of parts so far and we're looking at about a days labour it would appear. PAS Pump siezed, snapped the pulley off the shaft and sent frag flying round front of the engine. Bloomin German rubbish. Looking on the bright side VAT goes down to 15% on Monday. Should save me about £17 on the £800ish bill I'm expecting...

Thats the thing i dislike intensely with moderns, when something breaks, its bloody expensive, and bloody difficult to fix it yourself at times! Hope you get the car sorted, i guess you can be all smug to the missus about new cars being reliable and things. (i do not advice this way of action tho, haha!)

I think I might just go stuff my self with thai food now to make me feel better about this all. I recommend sushi, not thai. Fills you nicely and is actually mood enhancing too. Been through most of that. Had one old and two new boilers fail in the last 8 years. At least this one got out of warrenty and through to it's next service.
