I have it in my watch list but the description has put me off bothering to go see it or bid on it for the reasons I put above. People like that are giving you the red flag before you bid really IMO. Then they wonder why they don't get top price for their stuff or sell it to some retard or messer. I'll happily go and look at it for any potential purchaser...just to actually meet the bloke and stare into the face of a windowlicker. It's only a few minutes from me. ;D

Bid and win, then when you go to pick it up, refuse to complete the transaction - just tell him you are not buying it as you now realise its a Sherpa van you're after, not a Hillman Hunter.

I Think its a nice car, good colour too!
Is this the model of hunter with a suitcase of crack cocaine in the boot? It would explain the fantastic price he paid.

Trouble is.....knowing my luck I'd offer him £500 for it and he'd accept.......and I need a Hillman Hunter in my life like Steven Hawking needs trainers.

^^I just did a little wee at that last line Bri. I think you should phone up to find out his address for collection, then drive past, slam on the brakes, jump out and scream "bloody hell an Avenger, ain't seen one of those for years" as loud as you can.

Matt That's nearly as funny as the tit buying the wrong car. We've all done it though. Hands up who's bought a DVD on amazon for £3 then been really disappointed when it turns up and you've actually bought a soundtrack CD? It also happened when we got my wife's last car. She expressed a desire to own an 60s Alfa Spider. When I got it home she asked why it had Volvo badges. Doh!

I think ak will buy it under 400 quid for his runabout he was wanting ;D I'm not buying it unseen, I don't think I can get over there really to see it easily, I especially am not wasting a whole afternoon on it. I have seen some godawful FWD J thing nearer home which probably fits the bill and I deserve the torture of owning it. That or that ropey looking Citroen CX on eBay. What could possibly go wrong with that?

What could possibly go wrong with that? look on the bright side, akku, you and I are now in the same boat... need car in hurry, but cheap. Take heart in the fact that I can be at least as foolhardy as you, so one of us can show SWMBO a thread and go "see, it could be worse... look what that guy bought" On an aside, I believe the 330,000 miles. I know a man with a singer gazelle that has been to the moon and back (figurativly) during his 35 year stint of ownership. He says its been all over the country, and he might have all the old MoT's to back up the uss enterprise mileage.
