Well, here we are, a month before Christmas, in the depths of the deepest recession in recent history, the weather is about to turn cack and nobody has any money……….perfect timing to sell a cabby then!
The quick and dirty info is:
1989 325i cabriolet in Alpine white
115,000 miles
Taxed and tested to End of April 2009
Offers around £1,500.
I'm just south of Birmingham
In detail:
I bought this car from a friend in April 2008. He had owned the car for the past nine years or so and it had lain, unused, in his garage for the previous 18 months. I bought it off him, fitted a brand new radiator, got it MOT’d and set about having one of the most fun summers motoring I have ever had! Shortly after buying the car, the battery died so I fitted a new battery to it also.
The front suspension was bit sloppy so I fitted new German lower arms, bushes and ARB drop links….that tightened everything up nicely.
The car has loads of service stamps in the book and receipts for servicing and work done up to Sept 06 when my friend took the car off the road. I gave it a full service using all BMW filters just over 1000 miles ago and also changed the timing belt, tensioner pulley and water pump. Again, all genuine parts.
The engine uses no oil or water, is remarkably smooth, quiet and powerful and sounds just glorious given a bit of beenz.
There is no rot on the bodywork anywhere and the shell is very, very solid. There is a little surface rust on the inner return lips of the wheelarches but, if caught now, won’t take a lot to rectify. There is a small trolley type dink on the rear nearside quarter panel which I have tried to show in the photos. There is some distortion to the bottom of the front panel where the previous owner has gone over something not as low as the car but this should straighten out easily if you wish….it’s never really bothered me. Talking of ‘low’ I assume the car has been lowered at some time in it’s life as it’s erm…..low. The ride is fairly firm and it hold the road like a good ‘un.
The hood is in excellent condition with no tears or rips and the rear window is nice and clear….although it doesn’t look it in the photos but that’s only condensation.
The car has a good set of matching Pirelli P6000 tyres with plenty of tread all round.
The interior is in very good condition. There are no holes/rips in the leather anywhere but some colour fading in the usual wear points that should respond well to some Gliptones.
If I get near to my asking price I shall leave the stereo in. This is a nice Pioneer unit that I fitted which has a USB socket in the glove box. With this you can connect your ipod or iphone and it will charge up as well as playing your ‘toons’. You can control the ipod then from either the head unit, or the ipod itself. This USB socket can also be used to connect a usb stick or SD card using a small card reader.
If you need to know anything else or I’ve missed anything vital out, please let me know.
Thanks for looking.
