What he said^^^^^ As for the subaru version I have seen one over here on German plates of all things. Is'nt subaru part or fully owned by GM? On a side note,i used to work for a company who made parts for vauxhall/opel.If we sent parts to Germany and they got returned we would send them to Luton or liverpool, most of the time we would never get them back but if we did they went to austrailia because it was to expensive to send them back ;D Lol, you guys arent the only ones who did that, back in teh 50's 60's BMC would send panels for minors out with REJECT crossed out and AUS written below on them for the very same reason. explains alot about the fit and finish on mine really...

It's odd, I was just thinking about Zafiras yesterday (yeah, I know... but bear with me). A few years ago there used to be a plain-wrapper Police Zafira, rumoured to be tuned up and pretty quick. Apparently they used to go round the usual street Kroozer haunts around Nottingham and challenge people to races. Then nick them. That would be an urban myth. They'd never get a case to stick, because of entrapment law. Possibly but along the same lines When I was wearing a blue suit many years ago "we" had an XR3i that we used to leave in public car parks with a load of high street electrical retailer bags in the back with what looked like prize pickings. Obviously it didn't take too long for some local scroat to get in and screwdriver the ign and drive it away - it normally drove for 100 yrds before it shut down, locked all the doors and windows (inc sunroof) and the scroat was nicked - it was nicknamed the rat trap It was never ever used as evidence in court but it did give reasonable grounds for a search on his home address and 9 out of 10 times that provided all the evidence required to secure conviction on numerous offences of a similar nature as well as recovering property that in many cases could be returned to the rightfull owner It had a very limited life so was swapped around all the major towns in the county on a regular basis untill it was too well known to be used again

surely their lawyers would though. Thats why we pay our taxes, so that young scrotes get access to the best lawyers on legal aid without having to pay for it...
I used to work at a law firm and I work for an organisation which deals with young people and believe me they know thier "rights" and how to work the system. Heard a lass (guess aged 16?) in our lobby this week talking on a nice new Nokia N96 or similar (and wearing thwe "designer" sports-casual wear) demanding some prefferential treatment on something or another because she was "homeless".
They have the angles covered.

Some of the badge engineering is Aus is weird. There are: Holden Commodores badged as Toyotas Toyotas badged as Holdens Mazda badged as Fords and then a whole load of ridiculous Hondas badged as Rovers, including the "Rover 416" that passed me the other day which was actually a Honda Integra.
I also once saw a Land Rover Discovery which was badged as a Honda - can't remember where though, either the US or Japan...

What about the quite mental Saab 9-2X... ...AKA the Subaru Impreza. What's that all about? or as SOC members call it - the "saabaru" still kinda cool though

and this is why GM is going bust.. when you buy a subaru you want a subaru and not a rebadged Opel Subaru isn't owned by GM. GM has sold its share in Subaru a couple of years back although I understand they stillhave colaborative projects GM financial problems are far wider and deeper than an alliance with Subaru. Most of them are around credit costs, dealer network conflicts and the cost of their pension scheme. Theres some restrictive practice problems with thier trade unions which can't be helping. That and they seem to have had a couple of retards running the business of late

And no matter what badge they have on em, they are all the most dangerous car on the road! Driven by a either a woman who is paying more attention to the child in the back, or by a bloke who is so depressed by the fact that his wife has forced him into driving a Zafira that he drives like an aggressive nutcase all the time. No the worst ones are Renault Scenics. Hateful cars which I've enver seen driven properly. What's that shape drifting between lanes, using their fogs in normal weather, doing 40 in a 60 and sitting on the brake lights at every junction? Yes it's a Scenic. They also appear to come with at least one broken brake light from the factory (although to be fair, it is a Renault)

Best lawyers? Legal aid? That's not 2 things I thought I'd see in the same sentence (pardon the pun)
I remember getting a press release about the 9-2 when I was in the motor trade proper - it made me howl. Apparently they spent some obscene amount of money changing it into a "Saab," mainly on the front seats to make them orthopedically sound or something.

Our senior criminal law partner did legal aid work when I was employed in that practice. Had a good team working there. Got lots of scallywags off so they could steal more cars etc.

That pic was taken in the Traffic Police HQ in Liverpool, about 1987

Fast people carriers aren't a new thing though, I remember having a Shalaxy with a 2.8 V6 motor in it, going through France doing a ton and still being able to talk to the people in the third row without raising my voice...and I bought that for £1500 from the auctions. Boy that thing was quick on the uptake...the missus used to race everything off the lights in it ...which, aptly enough for a 'badge engineering' thread, was of course the VW sourced 2.8 variant of the VR6. Also, great plate on that 'rat trap'. Rat trap FTW!
