Hello, Just testing the water to see what kind of manta coupe I could straight swap for my vw corrado 16 valve.
What id like in a manta:
* Must be a b series gte coupe.
* Red/black/white/or that cool greeny blue colour preffered in that order.
* Prefer a long mot.
* Must be in a similar condition body wise to my corrado (not fussed if its had plenty welding underneath...nearly all of them have right?, as long as its been done well though) I don't want roof/wheel arch rust.
* I would like an earlier b series (none exclusive) with the small rubber boot spoiler and the chequered interior.
* Standard preferred. No crazy body kits unless its a well fitted 400 kit!!! ;D I don't mind if its lowered, or has a stainless system.
* All the obvious stuff must be good, quiet box/axle/no oil burning, clean interior etc.
My Vw Corrado 1800 16 valve:
* 1991 model in tornado red.
* Just gone straight through mot.
* Was taxed for 6 months, erm, a month or two back...how time flies!
* Full magnex stainless exhaust sytem, superb. I love magnex stuff.
* Headlights and fog lights protected with GunSmoke Lamin-X.
* Custom machined 25mm steel wheel spacers, which allow the bmw mini cooper 17" wheels to fit perfectly on the spigot and sit well in the arches.
* Black interior (not the curse word grey) which is in very good condition, no burns/holes.Just sagged on drivers bolster but not visible.
* New pressed metal number plates.
* Recent front subframe which I have waxoyled. They are no longer available, and prone to rusting.
* Recent radiator/switches/expansion tank/thermostat/g12 coolant/oil/spark plugs.
* Brand new mintex front pads/discs/caliper bolts and carrier bolts.
* Brand new rear pads/discs/back plates/wheel bearings/caliper bolts/carrier bolts.
Bit of quick info:
The standard 139bhp engine pulls well and winds up like a valver should from 4k rpm.There is no crunching into second gear etc.
Everything works including the tilt/slide sunroof, leccy windows, electric rear spoiler, central locking. The drivers side sometimes dosn't unlock, so I have a spare door handle on the way which I will fit.
The body panels all line up superbly, the paint is shiny but not a flawless finish...there is laquer peel and I will be honest in saying that I have painted part of the passenger door where someone jammed a screwdriver in it, and also the rear spoiler as it was faded (pink) There is no real rust on the body anywhere, slight bubble on the very lip of the front wing.
The tyres are all dunlop sp sports, the rear two could do with changing soon. It will come with a second set of 17" 5 spoke wheels, one of the tyres has a hole in it. A couple of them may be usefull.
The original gearknob is worn but a shiny new richbrook titanium one is currently fitted.
There is an etched web address on the bonnet, but its not overly obvious.
No stereo head unit included.
Drives fine, and looks fine.
So then!
Id like to see what people have to offer for a straight swap
Please post pictures and details of what you have.
If I were to advertise the car, id be looking at £1800.
I'm in Burnley/Lancashire.
Thanks, Neil.
