I think you'll have to give it up Hotwire, they may be annoying little buzz boxes but you just don't beat them up the hill. We'll see ,.. I know that people threw a HUGE amount of money into mini (re)development over the years so they have a bit of a technological edge on most racing cars. That having been said, they have been beaten and will be beaten again

Mr H Wire, why not just get a Mini ? Because then I wouldn't get to see the smug grin wiped off the face of mini owners when I post better times

LOL. While you ladies are exchanging glances, the Imps'll be cleaning up at the races... ;D... as usual... ;D ;D Hehe! And no wise cracks about "cleaning up" oil or coolant, thank you. Imps have feelings too, y' know. I'm

Just friendly competition banter, guys! I have never competed in any motorsport before and need to get to know the Chamois when I get it back. Its morphed from a very slightly modified road car into a fully-prepared racer. You have the advantage! Plus Minis are FAIRLY useful in hillclimbs anyway. I do accept that. Anyway, my Chamois is highly tuned but still only 930 cc. Your 1275 cc Minis are getting on for 40% larger in capacity! I know. Excuses, excuses! I'm ;D

It's great fun watching this sort of argument, odd too, I'm not used to big arguments on this board that I didn't start! ;D ;D ;D ;D Seriously though, I think it comes down to personal taste, from experience I know that I wouldn't be at all competitive in a Mini, and likely I wouldn't be all that hot in a Peugeot 104, I just don't enjoy driving most FWD motors, whearas I'd be much better in a RWD car, preferably rear engined, like an Imp, but some of you would be great in a Mini but not so much in an Imp, it's all down to personal taste really, and what cars you're used to. Besides that, it doesn't matter that they're a few hundred ccs up on us Imp, sub-1 litre Imps never seemed to have a problem winning the BTCC (three times), various rallies, and all sorts of races and events all over the world back in the day, in their day they were flattening Camaros with bloody big V8s and the like! Oh, and if you're going to thake the rip out of an Imp, you must be more creative. ;D The pub bores and urban legend-mongers have been telling tales of exploding engines and coolant all over the driveway for years now, besides, if I were to use the same pub-bore legends, then French cars and Minis don't fare much better. ;D ;D

I didn't say Minis never won there too, but that's not the only thing Imps have won, I reckon if you were to compile a list of all the events they've ever won, and impossible task because both cars have competed at every level of motorsport they could enter, then they'd come out about the same. Besides, Minis were in production for much longer, meaning they were homologated for top-level competition for much longer. If I wanted to be pedantic then I could list various other events that Imps have flattened Minis in, then you'd counter with loads of events that Minis trounced Imps at, there's no telling where it'd end because they were both successful motors. As I said, some people like Minis, and some people like Imps, surely it can be left at that?!
