Good to see you found the pricks that did it. I've had mine done 3 times in 5 weeks. Milked and aerial stolen, Mirror glass stolen, then covered in rubbish at the station car park including a ceiling fan that slid off and scrapped big bits on paint off the bonnet.
Around here i think the little rich kids need to get there heads kicked in. Just because daddy got you a new car for your 18th doesn't mean you can go to town on my old one. Something like "it's just a car..." "Oh really, it's just your face" *enter cricket bat*
Much up day (when the year 12s finish high school) is getting worse now.

A certain person I know hasn't had a car vandalized or home burgled since 1975.
Perhaps (?) it's the fact that he is frequently found on his porch cleaning and oiling his shotgun for the traveling public to see as they drive by.
Handy thing that 2nd Amendment.
Robert Heinlein said, "An armed society is a polite society."

I think if anybody here is caught polishing their shotgun on the porch its an instant 5 year prison sentence!
(unless its a licenced shotgun I guess... but average Joe doesnt usually have access to a gun)
Is mindless vandalism of houses/cars a problem over in the states in the same way its a problem over here? Everyone I know has been affected by it to a certain extent, from the odd key scratch to the car being completely destroyed.

(unless its a licenced shotgun I guess... but average Joe doesnt usually have access to a gun) Is mindless vandalism of houses/cars a problem over in the states in the same way its a problem over here? No, not generally outside the major hoods. There is an intimidation factor to the right to bear arms. One which obviously the Founders took into consideration when tossing off the yoke of KG The 3rd. It really is all about having the means of rebellion at hand against tyrants. Perhaps this is why Sam Colt put the script "The Equaliser" on a line of his revolvers. A little old lady protecting her person in her flat or her motor can be just as deadly as an SAS commando. She's got her equaliser. But it needn't even come to that, if you frequently brandish your irons to the would-be punks. Are crossbows legal? Polish one of those. Failing that, take up judo, and crack a lot of boards on the porch. I dunno. I don't understand a gummit that don't allow a person to protect themselves and their family, unless it's a paranoid gummit that thinks it might be served up.

Thats the problem, too many irrational people already, never mind irrational people with guns. Everybody is irrational, at least sometimes. I'd rather be irrational and alive, then rational and dead. And I'd rather not have some Orwellian state program deciding who is which. I'll decide.

Glad you sorted the little scrote out! Sounds like the perfect solution Thats the problem, too many irrational people already, never mind irrational people with guns. Everybody is irrational, at least sometimes. I'd rather be irrational and alive, then rational and dead. And I'd rather not have some Orwellian state program deciding who is which. I'll decide. Oh please. The outlawing of firearms is hardly a sign of an "Orwellian state". You only have to look at events like Columbine to see why we don't have easily available guns in the UK. One nut job taking out the president is hardly a democratic process either.

Completely disagree, but agree lets not go down this route either. Just want to say Columbine was all about curse word parenting and curse word police work. You don't need a gun to kill lots of innocent people (9-11, Lockerbie, IRA bombs, ricin, Jack Ripper, drunks on highway, etc etc). But you do need a gun to defend yourself against a gang or to intimidate, unless you're a latter-day Bruce Lee. See law review articles about crime going down where concealed carry laws are enacted. Armed society = Polite society. Hundreds of assaults are foiled everyday by lawful citizens who intercede with arms, and usually not having to fire them, just showing them.
