loads of euro tat getting clobbered ;D Citroen CX and Lancia Gamma No chance. The Gamma's power steering would've made the cambelt jump a tooth and spread the flat-four's guts across the boulevard inside the first 100m...

TROPES IDENTIFIED FROM ITALIAN \ FRENCH TRASH CAR CHASES:
1. The protagonist has to drive a boxy, slightly shagged saloon which will become horribly smashed by the end of the sequence (see Fiat 124, Alfa Giulia Super)
2. If there is a Citroen DS, anywhere in the scene, it will either get smashed up or will roll over.
3. There absolutely HAS to be a low angle shot with the camera stuck just in front of the B pillar to show the old skool suspension go postiver camber and squash the outside wheel to show how hard everyone is cornering.
4. Jean Paul Belmondo is TEH BEST ESCAPE DRIVER EVAR even if he does get stuck down a greek sidestreet and his in car scenes are on a rig.
5. Preferably, there needs to be some kind of curse word wacka wacka cod jazz piece on as incidental \ diegetic music at some point. Then, as often imitated from Peter Yates, the score stops and the clipped scream of engines and curse word tyres take over for anywhere between 3-17 minutes.
6. BMW 2000s are the preferred getaway car of choice if you're shifty, sub machine gun'd and being directed by Richard Conte.
7. Does anyone have a copy of Tony Arzenta? ;D

After having a look at "Fiat 124 Coupe and BMW 2000" have a look at the Mythbusters episode on "shooting at the gas tank" ;-)

So to summarise from our 'studies'.... If in Europe, and in trouble....Fiat 124 or Alfa Giulia FTW. Alfa is awesomer tho.
