Well I didn't go to the Retro Cars show unfortunately, but I was run ragged all this weekend. I've mentioned this before, but I'm a member of St Andrews Ambulance Corps, so between providing first aid cover at various local events (one of which was slightly retro cars related actually, I'll get onto that in a minute! ) and instructing our Cadet Corps (we gave them a great suprise training scenario this time round, involving my Imp incedentally. You see, we had them meet us in a local church graveyard with a gravel path running through it, where we'd set up a fiendishy convincing fake car accident wherein a junkie (played by me in a fiendish disguise! ) had just been ran over by a driver who wasn't paying attention and was now hysterical (played by a colleauge, the car was stationery through the excersise so I didn't need to worry about my Imp in someone else's hands! ;D), the idea being that by the use of various home-made injury simulating devices (fake blood, protruding fractured bone cunningly made from a few bars of soap) and by the accident being a surprise, and their gaffers having been cunningly disguised if I do say so myself, they had no idea that it wasn't a real incident, other than one who pointed out that the old car looked suspiciously like my Imp, but besides that they fell for it, since we had told them to turn up for a regular training session in the church, rather than a live excersise. The only problem is I then had to spend ages when I got home washing the 'blood' off of my gear, and off of the Imp! ;D ;D ;D I also got funny looks on the way home with a blood-spattered Imp and me covered in blood! ;D ;D All in all though it was pretty effective, and I've now found a new use for Hillman Imps ( and for cunningly disguised communists! ;D ;D ;D) The other first aid/retro car related thing I done was being part of the emergency cover at a stunt show in Greenock, which besides involving various usual stuff like human cannonballs and guys jumping over stuff on motorbikes, had a few retro motor-related stunts, including an insane eastern European lad (nice guy really, we met after the stunt ) doing various mad stunts in a mkII Escort, stuff like handbrake turns into tiny parking spaces, jumping up ramps and through walls of fire, and driving on two wheels in it, which was pretty impressive! ) plus a mad Soviet tank that had had its tank body taken off and been converted to run with a much-modified classic American Ford pickup body and more pickup-like controls, but still had its enormous tank engine in the back, it poured smoke like you wouldn't believe. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of the event, or my blood-spattered Imp, because although I don't know what the legalities of it are, but I'm not in the habit of carrying unneccesary equipment like a camera when I'm on duty, otherwise I'd have definately took pictures! ;D ;D

I had to stay home too. Due to my car being a disassembled shed and my girlfriends car being away for body work

Spent the whole day yesterday trying to replace the electric window mechanism in my best mate's mk3 Astra, which I accidentally broke on Saturday (I didn't remember him saying "don't wind the driver's window down" but I'm sure he must have....)
As we speak I still can't get the window in properly!
I may commit ritual suicide later, especially if the window's still not back in.

I may commit ritual suicide later, especially if the window's still not back in. It's the only reasonable thing to do in the circumstances.
