I think the Marham pics have inspired a few of us. I've always thought I'd like to do some trackdays but when I've had a suitable car I've not had the money and vice versa. Having said that, £70 for a day at Marham is very reasonable indeed - I'd always been under the impression these things were into 3 figures. Best bit about Marham is that all the money goes to charity

sorry bc, couldnt resist ;D ;D I'm (fairly) seriously considering buying a v cheap mondeo petrol estate, stripping and slamming the curse word out of it and hurling it round croft next year. perfect tool i reckon, zetec/duratec/v6 motor and admit it people, they do handle ok. plus you can fill it to the brim with stuff for the tip and not give a curse word about the interior becuase it hasnt got one!

I've been toying with this as well - either hill climb or a cheapy airfield track . Pick up a cheap e30 and go play :-), although even the xcheapest days are still quite expensive! have retro-rides days been organised in the past? Retro rides have been attending Marham for a couple of years (as guests of the ABS) but this time we had our own official spaces and were sanctioned as an "Approved" forum Next one will be in April next year and it will be promoted in the events section Castle combe did a Retro and sports car day this year hopefully we can get some good attendance at this next year E30 is a good choice nice balanced handling and very avaliable and cheap as chips ooh, i would def be interested in that! If i pick up an E30 it'll probably be an estate - ACTUALLY a touring car :-)

I think its probably better to start off in a slower car TBH. At marham, although i only got two laps in i found that my mind went totally blank as soon as i got out on the track and everything that i thought i'd learned by being taken around a few times went out the window. I was going into the corners way too quickley and completley messing up my lines. In a slower car i would have been less inclined to just nail it and hope for the best. That said, its still definatley the most fun i've had with my clothes on ;D

in a slower car you get more time to think about things. danger is when you start thinking your slower car is anyone elses way. it isn't! faster cars will get past you on the straights and corner exits, hold your line in the bends-we all pay the same for the track time (I think i just retyped some year old BC pearls of wisdom ). I fell into that trap and found myself blocking peoples paths after I spun out on the wrong line watching where other people were. speed is all relative. robg2 gets loads of corner speed through flowing lines and no-one can catch him in the twisties- in an almost stock engined nova GTE and malboromitch's cappacino corner entry speeds are off the chart! and thats flat out at 88mph. the 2002 is not fast. but it is fun ;D
