Yipee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Me and the mad Bias finaly got round to fitting the 24v motor in the doom bus.Borrowed a mates workshop for a few days while they were shut over christmas. We gathered all the bits together(or so i thought) and turned up bright and early to take the motor out.
It was cold and i had a hangover from hell!!!!!
Still we ploughed on and in about 90mins had the engine and box on the floor.Nice...
Had a nightmare trying to fit the 2.8 flywheel, only to find that the new up rated clutch i'd bought didn't fit!!!!!!Balls...So after much buggering about we put the 2.9 flywheel and the old cllutch back on.Gearbox etc back on and back in the subframe.
While this was going on Bias ripped the loom apart and put the 24v loom in it's place.
Stick it all back in the hole.......
Bolt all the bits back on and wire it up...All with me still feeling really bad...Yuk!!!!!
While all this was going on i realised that i might not have the right ecu or maf sensor!!!!Turns out that the 1 i've got is off the bob engine and we're not sure if it's the same.Ford were really helpful in telling me that you can;t buy the maf anymore, balls!!!!!!!!Turns out it's the right ecu though!!!!Result!!!!!
Whilst doing the fuel lines i had a bit of a moment with a knife and did myself an injury!!!!
Ouch!!!!!!
Finaly, when we had it all plumbed in and wired up we tried starting it!!!
Guess what?Didn't wanna know, just turned over....
We did a few checks but decided to call it a night(was getting damn cold by then!!!!!).
Next morning we tried again while we was still full of morning tea!!!MMMMMM!!!!!
Changed the fuel lines over and it started!!!!Bit lumpy but it ran, until it warmed up,then it just hunted and stalled...
So after more checks and fidelling it's still the same...
Took it over to Bias's that night to put the air filter etc on and found out that i didn't have the right bit to fit the filter to the maf sensor...
So i set about making 1 in the warmth of his garage!!!!
Nice!!!!
Once it was fitted we tried it again but still wouldn't tick over when it warmed up?
?
I've driven it round for a few days now and nothings fallen off yet!!!!Only probs are both engine mounts need replacing,as does the clutch...
Main problem is the tick over when hot. When it's cold it's fine, when it's warm it just hunts and then dies!!!!!!
Any ideas what we can do to try fixing it?Checked the wiring and it all seems to go where it should, changed all the sensors apart from the maf as i still haven't found a new 1 so it's still using the bob 1.
Doesn't make any difference if it's unplugged though???
Checked air leaks and can't find any?
Not sure what else to do now so HELP!!!!!!
Even the Bias seems a little baffled!!!!!!Oh dear!!!!!
S off came the plenum again to check it was sealed ok and check the newer sensors underneath, all seems fine...
Tried taking the chip out and leaving the ecu unplugged to try and reset it?
Don't know what to do next really?Got to be something in the wiring or a sensor?
