Not mine, belongs to 24vster, but if I waited for him to start this thread it'll be 2028! I'm sure he'll be along at some stage to add his own stuff
The Sierra of Doom has been in his ownership for quite a while now, it's a 2.9 V6 and it just flatly refuses to die! It's been run on all manner of contaminated fuel, it sounds like a biscuit tin of nails on a paint shaker despite having had new rockers and the oilways cleaned out.
Here 'tis
A 24v has been in the offing for quite some time and as his garage looks like this
And there's a 'rat' BOA with BOB cams in it waiting at work to go in he decided that we'd better get an MOT on it.
Weekend before last we were meant to be welding it up, but as it's on my drive and it was lashing it down sideways we decided to get the brakes sorted.
Before we'd even got the wheels off one of the rear studs had snapped
That'd be why the handbrake was curse word then!
Off with the old, on with the new, Ultima rear calipers
Biggest stock front discs are 283mm 2wd Cossie, unfortunately the offset is wrong for the 4x4 legs, so a rainy Saturday was spent making shims to bring the disc out into line with the carrier
And the finished article with Grannie 24v calipers
Sunday was better weather so after we spent a couple of hours bleeding the brakes we got the grinder out and started finding out how bad the rust was
And onto this weekend, Saturday, cut all the rust out of the NS sill
And welded up the inner and mid sill
by the time I'd finished putting the outer sill on it was dark
24vster and JDMboy then took the headlining out, more on why later
Sunday morning
Grind up and prime NS outer sill
Cut grotty seat mount out
Repair, weld back in and prime
And onto the OS sill, cut all the rust out
And weld in a new floor edge, a new bit of inner sill and then weld the 2 together
Tonight after work
Take 1 headliner with the cloth and backing removed, 1.5m x 1.5m of furry fabric et voila
More soon
