got home from work last night as usual, got the call that everybody dreads. strange number calls the phone, "hi central scotland police here, can you meet us at stirling royal, your wife has had an accident, the ambulance is on its way." got there to see the wife been carried out of the ambulance on the back board, covered in blood and muck. she had hit a large patch of standing water on the m 9. luckily a nurse,a doctor and a retired policeman were following and helped here at the scene. she will be okay, but looks very secondhand, cuts, bruises and an abrasion to her cornea. went to get some stuff from the car today and this is what I found. hopefully the pics will make any of the folks on here take a bit more care this winter. cheers scott

Damn, hope your wife has a speedy recovery. Sounds like she was very lucky, from the damage.

thanks guys, the police and recovery driver told her to put a lottery ticket on this week, she was that lucky,
i know it rolled a couple of times, and ended up on its drivers side on the inside lane, most of her injuries are on her right side from road rash and glass lacerations, but no broken bones etc, maybe its because its a five star ncap car she basiclly could walk awayfrom it?

Ouch! Good to see that the side airbags etc deployed, one great thing about modern stuff is you're much better protected when the worst happens.
Glad your missus is OK

Shiiiiiiiiiit!!
I'm very glad she got out in one piece. Bet it wasnt a very pleasant experience getting "the phone call" from the old bill.
I love my old motors but if I ever end up in the same situation id want to be in a modern car!
I hope your other half enjoys a speedy recovery and wasnt too badly shaken up.

This is why I drive slowly and defensively in my 20-yr old car. You never know when it's going to be you. Would you believe I had a car full of teenagers giving me abuse and hand signals the other day just for doing 55 on the motorway? I had no more petrol money and I was early for work. So what if I don't do the limit all the time? Tossers. Hope your insurance sorts you out, op.

Only just seen this, and that is indeed sobering stuff.
What's more sobering is that she was going 50mph, indicating she was being safe, and was fully aware of the conditions.
Makes you think twice about tonking along at a high speed, irrespective of the conditions.
Glad she's going to be okay mate, and you certainly should look into getting another, strong little buggers aren't they!
