Sounds like a good idea to me! Maybe you could adapt an electric power steering pump from something else to fit in a different place? Or have I just completely missed what you're planning to do in amongst all those abreviations and technical words? I'm not very clued up on superchargers and the like, and I've never customised a power steering system, plus it's a little late at night for me to take all this in!!

Yep I have thought of that, there is an electric powersteering pump system available, it is used on some Paxos I think.

I am currently planning tomove the existing pump ( 1st pic front centre) to under the manifold in the 1st pic.

Abbreviations, sorry force of habit
MAF: mass air flow meter (1st pic left middle with all the pipes coming from it also called a metering unit, measures airflow through it and controlls fuel flow accordingly.

TB: throttle Body....bit with the cable going to it, think of it as a twin choke Carb without fuel

PAS: power assisted steering

FEAD: Front End Accessory Drive - belt system to alternator, PAS pump, air-con compressor, supercharger etc. Can also be run from the back of the Camshaft, as on new straight six Volvos then Called a READ

As for K-jet, I now know more than I'd like to about it from extended reading and fiddling to sort a cold starting issue on my Golf 16v. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? If you are planning to alter system pressure and/or control pressure then it's well worth getting hold of one, it's basically a lottery without if you're trying to adjust it and don't know how your adjustments are affecting the pressures.

I have some good k-jet links somewhere, will dig them out.

Surely you’re going from a situation where there is always a vacuum in the manifold, to one where theres both vacuum and positive pressure. SO how will you measure that and supply the right amount of juice? Surely the system (i.e. brain, and manifold pressure sensor) wont be equipped to deal with this sort of situation. Obv there are ways to get around it, I just don’t know what they are…!

Its a 90 Quattro

Thats my understanding of it too, the K-Jet is a Mechanical FI system, not electronic. the metering unit determines how much fuel is supplied depending on how much airflow it sees through the Flap.

TBH I had not thought of it untill someone posted up pics of that Turboed 6.9L Merc, and all he had done hardware wise was plumb in a Turbo between the Metering unit and the Throttle Body.
That got me thinking.....
Providing all the airflow comes through the metering unit, I think its a question of fettling more than anything else ?

The Turboed Audi Quattro used a K-jet so it can be done with forced induction, although I am not looking at anywhere near the kind of figures some of the Yanks are running on the same system:

100/200 turbos are easy enough to find cheap now, also had a sugestion of using a Metering unit from a 450 merc V8..... As K-jet is non sequential apparently I can just use 5 of the 8 ports ;D

The mercs and turbos use bigger injectors as well, I am sure between standard and larger injectors, standard and higher flow metering units and fuel pressure changes, I can get somewhere pretty close to where I need to be ? We will see

Have you got any more links explaining how the APC system works ?

The difficulty with running the Saab metering unit is its one injector short
The Audi is a 2.3 5-pot ;D
But will take a look for injectors and stuff cheers
