the exhaust thing is exactly that Sam brought it in halfords it works like the old playing card in the spokes theres a piece or plastic at the front that hits the spokes and the exhaust amplifes it . its riderble I'll finish welding it then you can come around and test it for me bro.

Ah yes, the good old days of cardboard and clothes pegs! The only thing I'd do to make the bottom one look even better would be a nice fat rear wheel/tyre but that's just me, and the rake and the seat alone are fantastic mate.

I know what your saying mate I'm still not happy with the bottom of the frame I keep cutting it about and changing bits. I'll probably put a new wheel on the back with a coaster brake so theres no levers and maxxis do some nice hookworn tyres that are 3" wide or maybe get some red bands don't know yet.

Can you still get coaster brake set ups? I only ever rode one bike with those brakes years and years back and was really impressed. It would certainly look much cleaner with no brakes/cables visible. Think the bottom of the frame looks ok to be honest but as a thought how about a sissy bar and you could weld the base to the frame where the red painted part joins the black part? Failing that how about some foot pegs mounted in the same place to use as cruising pegs?

you can still get them there about £45 for the complete back wheel from chain reaction cycles but thats £45 more than i spent on the bike so I'll look for an old one or i quite fancy a suicide style rear brake with cool shift knob of some sort not sure yet. the sissy bar idea sounds good i might try a few ideas out if i can come up with anything good I'll stick a pic on here.

Ive got a couple of 20" wheels with coaster brakes But think there both 28 spokes so difficult to build them onto MTB sized rims
what about running a spoon brake? thats the type of brake on a silver scooter. there a bit rough on tyres though.

Are you any good with photoshop mate? I'm not I'm afraid but if you are I suppose you could knock some designs up on that programme and see how they looked before you actually created them? Tell me more about suicide brakes please, not heard of those before. Incidentally, in case our wires got crossed, I think the frame part from under the crank to the rear wheel on the bottom chopper is hotter than a hot thing and looks really good. Will you be able to run a chain and the derailleurs(sp?) for the gears up ok? Sorry for all the question by the way, just really impressed with the bikes and wished I had the tools and skills to knock something up myself!

i think I'll probably go with the suicide brake alecw35 thanks anyway. MC dizzy ask as many questions as you like its nice to know people like them mate, I've never used photo shop I'm not that good with computers. i can normally see what i want in my head then i just get stuck in it normally works out ok. on some old motorbikes they had a hand gear lever coming out of the gearbox and up the side of the tank that was called a suicide shift. i thought it would be cool if i could fit a back brake under the bottom of the frame and make a long brake lever that comes up the left side of the frame. i wasn't sure about the bottom of the frame myself but I'm glad you like it, i think I'll leave it as it is then. i had a chain on it a while back and rode it up and down the road a few times before i decided to stretch the top and down tubes it rides quite nice, it will eventually be single speed, why not have a go at making something all you need is a welder and hacksaw its not that hard really. i normally get some old bikes at a boot fair or grab anything i find dumped i try to use a bmx BB as there easier to take apart without the proper tools.

Sod's law I had a welder and sold it because I never used it! My lad's been through quite a few bikes so plenty of old frames etc kicking about. You're getting me thinking now, I wonder what it'd be like to have some front rests on the forks or down tube with a foot brake lever? I reckon single speed will make the whole bike look cleaner tbh, though a discreet shifter on the crossbar would also worked if geared, least I think it would.

I got a 3 speed wheel with a drum brake from ebay, for £16. Well 99p and postage. its a Sturmey archer AB on stainless spokes and rim. with tyre and tube. the brake arm takes a rod. so would be ok for a suicide brake. or maybe even a foot brake pedal, near the cranks
