Non-retro I know but bear with me! You may remember about 2-3 months I asked you helpful chaps for views on a few cars as it was time to swap company car, in particular I was keen on the Prius for tax reasons and a number of you helped with views (good and bad!). Well to prove it wasn't yet another "tell me about this car I have no interest in but too bored at work to actually do anything useful" thread, here she is, arrived last week: So far enjoying the leather, the auto in traffic, the cruise control on the M5, and getting 50+mpg, nearly twice what the Leon Cupra was getting. Oh and I took the hub caps off so you can see the alloy wheels, so it is kinda modded?! So go on rip me to bits!

Well... umm..you won't have to pay the congestion charge..... Not exactly my, umm, favorite car. Then again, where I live you can't swing a stick without hitting one.

I do like those covered rear arches, meant to actually make a difference to the mpg.
Hub cap wise, I'm told they make a 0.25mpg difference but look gash. I've seen some with moon discs that as well as helping the mpg a bit, give the whole car a more speed racer look.

They all look a bit curse word IMO, there's just not much you can actually do to make them look good! So, when're you matt blacking it? It'll look good then! Now if this was another 1.5" lower all round it'd look quite acceptable! Very much like a slightly ugly honda tbh!

Most of the mods I've seen are less big-V8, more extra batteries and a plug in mod so you can charge at home (hopefully off a renewable power supply!) to turn them into bigger less ghay G-wiz. Tempted to tint the rears for the baby and because it looks good on this, no idea what the company car dept allow?!

I'd love to see one fitted with a big block V8 that would cheese a lot of people off. needs doing ;D ;D ;D I've given it a lot of thought... find a salvaged one, (Over here there's such a demand for new ones that 2 year old ones are selling for more than a new one) like a flood damaged one.. throw in the noisiest, most gas-guzzling engine I can.. like a small block chevy with dual 4bbl carbs.. some old solid lifter engine that just swills fuel. Muahahahaha!

Does look OK as far as these eco type cars go, and they do make real sense tax wise (I drive a Leon too). I think it was these I read somewhere that they create a larger carbon footprint producing the car than a normal petrol engined model would produce in its service life? All the components are outsourced from far flung corners of the globe - ie the metals for the batteries are hauled out of an opencast mine in a 3rd world country and shiped 3/4 of the way around the world to the factory. The point of the article was those that drive them with their greenpeace hat on are actually as bad as the rest of us.
