Just fitted my Mountney (sp?) wheel to my column and have a few questions.
A) Why is there now a 10mm gap between the column shroud and the base of the wheel? Is this just because i haven't cranked it down enough, or because the old wheels plastic rim covered this gap.
B) Why is the horn push inset bit offset to the left, so it doesn't look like it's sitting central? Is this just a manufacturing defect I'll have to live with?
I'll get some pics in a bit.

1. Just the hub/adapter being a different shape to teh original. 2. Dunno - 'cos they are cheap and a bit nasty? Also didn't realise you were a fellow PHer

Another PH lurker here Yeah, I had that gap between the back of the hub and the shroud when I had a mountney wheel on my Mini. Also, check the little nuts that hold it all together don't come loose, I had a couple that kept doing that and it was annoying having to grovel round on the floor trying to find them... Spring washers helped!

yeah, what he said. You might be able to centre te cap with a little fiddling It's usually the return spring for the horn that pushes them over, I removed the spring from mine

Cool. I only threw it on today, I'll fettle tomorrow. Got a backbox to hang too, plus carb tweaks to be getting on with. Going to Goodwood on Friday though. Yay! Hello to all Ph'ers

This is going to sound really wierd... But you didn't visit Tollerton airport (Nr Nottingham) on Sunday did you? 'Cos an immaculate white auto Dolly trundled in while I was there (showing The Boys some planes and helicopters )

its probally not made for that car. its might be a british layland fitment but for one of there other cars which has a fifferent plastic bit. mine is a magnum base i think and didn't fit in the hole so i had to whip out the grinder and make it fit then on my dinner break at work i made a centre for it. i have a spare horn mush if you want that which i know fits, actually i have the whole boss with the plastic bits which might fit. pm me if your interested.

The Imp has the same splines etc as a Triumph wheel - could it be an Imp one? I have a Herald period Formula GT wheel in my everyday Imp...

Meh, I've got used to it now. It fits OK and I think I might just make a black ring up to stick to the back to shield the gap that shows the column, and sorted
