I know i can fit the ford type 9 gearbox to a Rover T16 engine with an adapter plate as Ive done it before. But out off curiosity what other gearbox's bolt straight up without a plate you help is much appreciated

lt77 gearbox but sherpa have a short 1st gear (unsuited to a car) o series sherpa bell housing and sd1 gearbox, trouble is finding one as they mostly get stuck behind a rover v8. Late TR7's are a rarely used source of LT77 gearboxes if it helps. R380 are rare in 2wd form and as far as I know the lt77/r380 4wd gearboxes have a different output arrangement as they go into a transfer box.
Lt77 gearbox are prone to a fifth gear whine.

4wd lt77 gbox's have a different pline on the output shaft
late ldv 200's and pilots have r380 2wd gearboxes (the low first gear isnt really an issue ,,,,,,,,just makes it rocket off the line ,,,,traction permitting)
i think B series gearboxes fit too but are all a bit too weak for 200 bhp
