iv been looking into going to the nurburgring and iv noticed they have a decibel limit on the cars (ie too loud and sod off). this is the quote
"The Nürburgring GmbH is actively committed to environmental protection, which incorporates noise prevention. Therefore, all vehicles must comply to the noise limits laid down in the house rules (95 db according to near-field measurement)."
now I'm looking to take a westifield or similar style car to drive around it but iv heard they're loud. would they be louder than 95db at "near field measurement"?

Depends on engine, intake and exhaust. My friend always struggled with his avenger rally car when it came to passing scrutineering. Standard tune toyota 4AGE engine plus twin box 2" exhaust system normally gave over 104 decibels at around 3000rpm. For every 3 decibels on the A scale the noise level doubles, so 95 decibels isnt that loud really. I think if you were concerned about the noise level of the seven, you would be as well getting it checked out before you got there to be on the safe side

Not sure what the limit for the road is but at the Uni trackday back in January the limit was 98db. SidewaysGTM's GTM was just under the limit and that was seriously loud, mostly induction roar

yeah that was quite funny, was trying to work out why the marshals on the pit wall had their fingers in their ears, but on the static test it was only 92 db just goes to prove just how much induction roar has an effect on the noise, how ever at donnington the limit was 98db and nothing was said, but goodwood is a little stricter and i was a little close to the limit at times especially seeing the meters were just were i was under full load getting near a shift point at 7.5K
i have got to get to the ring soon,,and aek a spare silencer or something to knock up if i need to last minute
damn ill have to watch a bit of my trackday vid now to get my induction roar fix
laters WEST [to the work shop for major GTM session tomorrow]

My Mini was 96db at Castle Combe but that was a very lucky reading - that`s with a single box large bore Playmini exhaust Some circuits rent / loan clamp on silencers to get you down below the noise limits - not pretty, but if it gets you on the track .....

I won't be there when you cross the road, so always use the Green Cross Code.

The ZS was 99Db at Combe the other week, but I'm sure that's scroot code for just over but we'll let you go (limit at Combe is 100db at 4500rpm 1.5 meters from the exhaust.
loads of cars run bolt on silencer cans at combe. Get one from Demon Tweeks, cheaper than coming home from Germany!!
