set of top mongs al round i say, what is the world coming to. Be like a granny getting mugged and then police taking bag to station with £50 to release it. Angrifying! Best we can do is lock up well, but still don't see why victim gets a double dose then crims walk free looking for another dose of crack /heroin or whatever. "bag a shhiii..." ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

I've had a similar (if not so bad) experience this week too. Some retard tried to steal the Saab on my drive about 10 mins after I parked it up. So they smashed the trim off the steering column and pulled out all the wires.... which are about 4 foot from the actual ignition barrel. Moron. Anyway, the police turned up, and were very excited that there might be some backward, inbred DNA in there or something, so arranged for it to be towed away to 'preserve' the evidence. When I asked when they would be bringing it back they pretty much laughed in my face. No, that's too easy, I've got to pick it up from a compound on the other side of town, during work hours.... without working indicators or wipers. And they didn't find any yog or anything. If they remove the car because its causing an obstruction (i.e joyriders have dumped it in the middle of the road) then you have to pay to get it back from the compound, plus recovery and storage e.t.c. If they remove a car for forensics to have a look then they have to pay for its removal, storage and deliver it back to you free FACT! Ive heard loads of stories about the police trying to get the car owner to pay for it all but its the cops that are meant to pay, not the owner. Stick to your guns!

The Police are wibblepoo when it comes to things like that...
About 2 years ago my Metro was nicked from Brighton. I informed the police straight away, I got a call a couple of days later asking where it was taken from, even though I obviously told them when I reported it...
Didn't hear anything after that, about 5 days later I went to pick up a recorded delivery letter which I hadn't had a chance to get as I was busy with work or whatever and I wasn't expecting anything important anyway...
Turns out it was a letter sent the day after I reported it and before the second phone call saying my car had been found and I had to pick it up from a compund 6 miles away!
And for the privilage of getting my own car worth about £150 back I had to pay over £100 towing fee and nearly £100 more in storage charges as I had taken so long to reply!
On top of this about a month later I left it unattended for a couple of weeks when I went on holiday and I returned to find it with windows smashed and big dents on every panel... I ended up sticking it on eBay and got 20 quid for it.

I thought a baghead was a smack head as the H comes in little baggies? I must be out of touch wiv da kidz. I think it's a generic term, we call 'em bagheads, as well as smackheads and crackheads amongst other things. It's the scum that sell the stuff I despise the most, they're the root cause of the problems.

Tell ya what, this is real food for thought on spending upto £200 securing your car, as we all know that retros are easy targets, give em some visual deterrants and some Krypton Factor action when they get in, or if ya feeling wicked how about something more Crystal Maze, or even some Home Alone gadgetry. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

I rigged up a bucket of wee on some fishing line over my old motorbike in the backyard once. Got up one morning and the bucket was on the floor empty and bike still there. Never found out if I hit the target or it was just a strong wind.

Yep, Disklok every time.
I had a similar thing with something that got stolen a few months ago (without a Disklok on). It got found 3 days later, burnt out stuffed into a wall in Bolton. Destroyed.
Police rang to say it had been recovered to XYZ garage and I had to ring them to sort it out. Rang the garage and they wanted £205 + VAT recovery fee.
They said if I didn't collect it that day it would be £12 + VAT per day storage or I could authorise them to destroy the car and the bill would be reduced to £155 +VAT.
Told them to poke it (literally) and last I heard of it was 4 weeks ago a letter came with a "statement" saying I owed (so far) over £400.
As I said, they can poke it.

Anyone with a recovery truck seems to be completely above the law right now. Weather it's the police contracted rip-off merchants, the travellers who come round and take what ever they fancy, or the clamping racket thats rife in every part of the country, all completely untouchable. If I didn't have any morals i'd get myself a cheap recovery truck and have a very merry christmas indeed.

If I didn't have any morals i'd get myself a cheap recovery truck and have a very merry christmas indeed. Now now, we aint all bad..... I have morals. Sick to bloody death of the police monopoly ripoff tho, and I have sucessfully avoided it by INSISTING that I recover it myself to secure storage, and that they need to produce a warrant saying I cant. Twice now I have avoided "compulsory" recovery just by standing my ground, not giving in to stupid threats and actually having the means to lift and store there and then. My advice is, get a good solicitor to write them a letter explaining what the law actually says. even if he charges you £25 per hour to write the note, its cheaper than their ripoff and makes them sh!t volkswagens.
