Anyone got a good idea on how to remove the factory stripes as easily as possible? Done one front wing with hot water, but it left all the sticky residue which is really hard to remove. I need to do both sides... Thanks in advance.

Heat it with a hairdryer for a bit first. They should then start to lift, then peel, keeping the hairdryer angled at it while you pull it back slowly.
Then use a tar remover type product to clean off any residue left on the bodywork.

WD40 will remove the residue or you can get proper Sticky Label Remover from RS

I’ve had some success by using an angle grinder to remove the sections of the panel onto which the stickers are fixed. Once they are gone it’s a simple matter to weld in new steel plates, fill with ‘Tetrion’ and respray the car (for a daily ‘smoker’ you can get away with just respraying the sides). This method has the advantage of not leaving a single trace of sticker.
Alternatively the hairdryer method can be successful for the less well-equipped workshop.

can you not just carefully apply high-build primer to all areas of the car other than where the stickers are, to make it all flat, then paint over the top?

hair dryer and ordinary car polish will remove the residual sticky. If you use any of the solvent products they will work as well.

white spirit usually does the trick for me, basically the same as panel wipe that you get in body shops

can you not just carefully apply high-build primer to all areas of the car other than where the stickers are, to make it all flat, then paint over the top? WARNING this requires considerable skill at bodywork. An alternative would be to buy an identical spec car without the stripes and swap all the mechanical components between the two cars thus leaving you with a stripeless car.

Thanks for the tips guys - used a hairdryer then RS label remover spray with plastic scrapers to get the gunge off. Got some cool wipes off my dad that are used in the aircraft industry - seem to remove anything from everything. They are carcinogenic though, and ur supposed to use a face mask and not let it come into contact with ur skin. Cleaned the whole car with them...
