Hi rookie, just been looking at the pics of your lovely 914. Could you point me in the direction of an info base for them (maybe a forum of such), and also a good place to buy one from.
Any other information on them would be nice............(importing etc)!
Thanks

AH HAAA!!!! Another lamb to the slaughter…!! Tee hee. No, just kidding. Thanks for getting in touch and for the kind words. I actually used to run a website myself, but it went donw a while ago and I'm currently trying to build it up again. But until then, here are a few links to some 914 places. There are many, many more and to be honest, if you just do a google search, you can find most of them. This is a UK porsche chat forum: www.ddk-online.com/This is a USA chat forum: forums.pelicanparts.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=45&forumid=7And this is the same site, but the parts section. www.pelicanparts.com/index.htmYou could also try this, which is a (very, very good) VW forum but occasionally (and I really do mean occasionally) 914s come up for sale there. www.volkszone.com/VZi/forumdisplay.php?s=52a00a2886d3557124cfd66fce7c60c4&forumid=12If you really are serious and ready to buy one, I do have a friend who usually keeps up to speed with pretty much every car for sale in the UK and has a list, but I don't like to bother him for it all the time, so let me know and I will have a word with him, or put you in touch. We also have a yahoo group where if you join you get loads of geeky emails from everyone else who is a member which is good, because you can see what everyone in the UK is up to, and tune in to some interesting advice even if you don’t need it right now! I can give you that if you're interested too. As for buying one, there are a few around at the moment, but the choice is limited, so firstly, you have to have a good understanding of specs (years, engines etc.. just like any car really) and second don’t be too precious about getting exactly what you want, because chances are that you wont. But you never know, you could get lucky. Also, you could take advantage of the exchange rate in the USA and get one from there. You could get a USA 6 cylinder car for about the same price as a UK 4 cylinder!!! For either keep an eye on ebay, or.. www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/Well, I hope this helps to get you started. Please don’t hesitate to mail me ninefourteen@aol.com or we can chat on here or whatever. Good luck, and I'll speak to you soon!! Luke. .

Thanks for the reply Luke.
I did a quick search on google to find some sites / cars for sale, but so many came up I wasn't to sure which one to look at!
I'm not sure I'm ready to buy one yet, but I might be in a couple of months! I've always wanted one (my father-in-law has got a 944 S2), but have never been sure about insurance / parts / cost etc, and now I've turned 25 insurance is a lot cheaper + the wife wants a cheap (ish) summer convertible.
I think I'll have to have a look at some of those sites to get a better knowledge of specs etc, and I'll get back to you later today.
Do you know of any good importing companies?
Thanks again Luke
Tim
