I'm surprised no-one's mentioned the best Monty option - the talking dash. i bought an MG meastro just cos of the digi talking dash back in me youf, it didnt amuse me enough to keep the car longer than a fortnight before i stripped the carbs off it and scrapped it.

ok opinion not allowed.......... check. imho they still look curse word You seem to have missed the point of the forum entirely. Your respectful opinion is welcome, your negative but unsubstansiated slating is not. You think they look curse word? Can you respectfully articulate why? If you have actual experience of working on them we'd love to hear an example. If you can't manage that, then don't bother posting.

There used to be a white Montego being constantly thrashed round these parts with "ON A MISSION" emblazoned at the top of the window. Certainly turned a few heads.
That black one would be a winner with some slightly tastier rims, though BRG is my favourite shade for these.

Hmmmmmm...... Montegos........ if they're anything like the Maestro I had i'll keep my opinions to myself. Great potential, but it seems you have to meet that potential to have a decent car, otherwise they're........ not exeptionaly good. Its not a Montego, but heres a pic of my old maestro, it was standard when i got it and i didnt do that much too it, but i think what i did do improved it. The subtle treatment might look good on a Montego, all it needed was to be hit with a stick. Photoshop anyone?

Montego Turbo : 0-60mph, 7.2seconds
That'll do me. The knowledge of how to iron out the chassis issues was won many years ago, so you could have a quick fun car that is cool to drive for super cheap money, because some blinkered people don't realise that everything has potential, which is kind of the point of cars like this.
I'm sure that 7.2 seconds could be reduced some what with the application of some intercooler + large turbo action.
Style wise its a 3 box... so there are a load of things that work on it.

I seem to remember at the press launch all the turbos's had broken down by the end of the day as the boost had been turned up for the journo's so they appeared faster than they were. lol

My dad had a brand new E plate 2.0 estate and modified it by grafting a Ford transit front end on after approximatly a week. problem was it was stiull attached to the rest of the transit at the time I remember it feeling a million miles away from the mk5 Cortina estate's he'd had previously and it certainly looked very modern with it's full plastic bumpers, electric windows and car phone I'd roll one for sure
