	Hey! Its 1991/2/3 all over again, crank up; Vic Reeves and the Wonderstuff, Tasmin Archer, Prodigy, and The Shamen! Recreating the fun I had on my old heavy GT Tequesta in '91, and when I shed piles of weight turning it into a Orange Prestige in '92 in my bedroom! Yep back to the Old Skool, I really wanted a Pink 'Seeker Mega' like a mate had BITD but I scored a 'Sorcerer Mega' frame and Fork from a lad in Belgium in May this year. Another mate had one of these in frame form BITD too but his was small (15/16" maybe) and he sold it too. Chuffed to hell when this turned up at my mums house in June from Belgium! He had it in near standard form for commuting duties and decided it deserved better than being left on the streets. \/ ----- So what I always need is a deadline, I'd been collecting Retro trinkets for it like paypal was going out of fashion but mostly silly bits or duplicates! Anyway, theres a club/forum ride in the peaks on Saturday, I know noone going really, and my recent biking has been a sprint to work only, so ideal deadline! ;D On sunday I grabbed the frame from my mums loft and collated all the treasures for it. Tuesday I got an expensive but correct size UN73 bottom bracket for it from Edinburger bike Coop, but apparently a 12 day wait to fit it and £18 charge as they reckoned it needed tapping! Tuesday evening I got a look at how it will all go together, cleaned Bb tube interior and installed the BB by hand, got a tool in the post for tightening! Got some wheels Mavic 217 SUP on White Ind. but won't be using these, a minor issue or two but getting a donor bike, which of course will turn into another project I'm sure Weds evening Needed to tidy the flat I started so room swapping last week and still all curse word hanging about from fixing van and other bikes. fetching these home fixed my shelving/study/mess issues bit o cleaning.. and some NOS titbits to boost the Mojo "Thaaats wodd am Taawkin' abaaart!" Mostly cosmetics and testing cables, lot to do but lots dependent on other stuff... few minor issues -It needs a 31.8 (IIRC) Front mech, we're going 7 speed at this rate! -Bottom bracket tool for tightening, is in post from Rutland... -Tyres, tubes in post... -Need wheels cassette, and oddments off donor bike, picking up tomorrow -Also picking up new project tomorrow evening. -My Pliers are curse word! my old ens are a bonnet puller for mischabs Piazza. Fun fun fun, watch it all unfold this week

	Good work fella, is that there bike got the cubiod tubing on it. I used to have a muddy fox courier, purpley/pink and white bloody massive thing it was 22inch if i remeber right, like riding a 5 bar gate. U brake on the chain stays argh they were the daze.

	Hi Jimmy, Yeah it is, I love it couldn't get a better year I'm sure novelty. My modern Commuter pictured above features similar tubework, with cubes and ovals so it wasn't just some gimmick As for gates this is a big as I ever wanted to go, stuff you are explaining sounds like pre 90 stuff, I'm gonna have to braze on U brake moints to teh chain stays of summat sooner or later! back in the 80's I was busy riding Raleigh Mustangs ;D --- Doing a bit on this now, tricky working on it without major items, i can see me finishing this on Friday night ;D

	Have to get a scanner sorted out and scan the pics of the old fox. I remember looking a muddy fox gold color with said cubiod tubing. Anyway . . . . I got a text from a friend of mine asking if i wanted to buy my old mountain bike back off him. Baring in mind i sold him this in 1994/5 i was interested. I now have another bike in my garage now to join the Mk1 chopper, grifter in bits, Its my old 1991/2 Gt karakoram 16" in red with the black flicks. Cracking bike, but its ready for a good clean. Will post some pics for u when i charge me batteries.

	Oooh yes! Great to see this one getting built Love the period parts, theres nothing finer than an early 90's MTB. What tyres are you planning for it, something 90's? If you can still get those Onza Poc II's that were bieng sold cheap on Ebay I highly reccomend them

	Jimmy that sounds awesome, My mate had a 91 Karakorum too, but his was in alternative colour black with blue lightning and 20" the Gold fox sounds awesome.. Street, went non retro in the end with rubber, did some research and got some nice all roundy XC rubber, 2.1 upfront, 1.95 rear, looks alright IMO gonna take my time on this now... so after getting my donor bike back just yesterday, I transfomed it tonight ready for the swimming in the peaks tomorrow ;D picked up yesterday dinner, so realiistically two retro bikes not one plus donor. ;D FSA risers I fitted 2 years ago chained up the old thing spent the night outside so boss didn't kill me Time to cut that chain off I fitted and wash it. Alesa 6021 rims cleaned up, quite nice though my mate seems to have dinged the rear a bit Exage kit, wierd cut out tooth No move! :lol: big guards off! cheat on rear mech, fit clean Fox item de riser and de ergo grip, my mate refittted em with oil aaaaand ready! and retro mudguards sorted!

	We went we saw... In action! Halfway house, well 2/3rds 14.5 mile My brain rattling around from exhaustion, I walk the stream! Completely fuggered by the end! fair to say the bike did better than me. :-? 22 Miles or somewhere near, so glad it hardly rained. weakest link was the brakes, not a lot of power from the OOS Old Old Stock pads on Exage cantis mucky! and a quick clean, not the cleanest but a lot better. Right so back on with the Fox, ordered some interesting wheels for it tonight, undecided what to do with the Apex exactly, Its a honey though. No probs all day, but boy I missed Suspension forks, and hydro disc brakes!

	Nice one mark! Brilliant stuff Looks like it got some serious use! Was that a Retro Bike organised ride? That Apex really is cool- I've always loved the Kona-like standover height that this range sported, they always look real cool. Nice to see one wearing its origional rims too! Be a shame if you've got to let it go, but then you've got the MF to take it's place

	Yeah it was a RB event, a lad who sold me some bits dragged me along, glad I went even if it did give me a virtual hangover and spent the last leg across the ridge of the peaks wanting my bed while trying to catch waiting whippets! you should do it next year, the organiser was actually serious about us all doing Mountain Mayhem race too hmmm, yeah maybe... Scored some interesting trials wheels for the Fox last night so the Apex is like still 100% complete.
