What I know... * smaller than a Mini * weighs less than a wet fart * 40 BHP-ish all alloy twin cylinder motor * 9000 RPM * metal is same stuff Chinese takeaway containers are made of What I want to know... Whats the parts supply for them like? I assume they have 10" wheels? Whats the PCD? Do they have any "known problems" except the obvious rust issues? Anything else I should know?

Running gear fits nicely in a Berkeley Se328. Outdrags a standard MG now! not much use to you though!

Slightly longer than a mini at 310 cms... 10" indeed, same size tyres as a mini but pcd is 4x110 afaik (yippee!), parts supply isn't too bad I think (but mostly in the US I think).
joncedric has one (or more).
I love them and want one.

Apparently they fit in the trunk of a mid 60's full size Plymouth.
If you're looking at one as a possible addition to the K fleet then the only answer is YES I'm afraid.

Or fit a parallel twin two stroke bike lump and strip it bare. *n nay! nice torquey four stroke parralel twin from something like a new mz1000, supposed to be over 110bhp.... what parts are likely to be needed? I'd geuss service parts, and windscreens. autoglass have a procuring service so if they're available in j land then then they can be got. looks like macstruts in the pics, so I geuss dampers may be hard to find. brake shoes relined and bushes could be sought from other cars by size. is there an owners register for the little beasts?

There appears to maybe be one in the USA.
It is known to have knackered brakes.
There may be a fiendish plot to maybe acquire one, but it kinda involves me owning an A40 Farina first...
MrsKu will not be at all amused by the suggestion but I'm hopnig its small enough I can sneak it in without her seeing it.
With a stock motor that hits 9K and is all alloy and apparently rather entertaining it would be shame to replace it with a bike engine.

"No...er...It's for the little one. One of those battery powered things...Y'know?"
or
"Nope - spare engine for the Caddy"

it would be shame to replace it with a bike engine. AK, I recall that the motor is a development of Honda's basic bike motor. No need to replace it, because it already has a bike motor! Inline 2 cyl, air-cooled.

I've got a few of the "coupe" Z 360cc versions. A fraction newer & more practical with hatchback rear window but same foorpan. Bumpers spaced a little further from body for export versions & 600's rear mounted spare (to accomodate brake booster in engine bay), 10 CM narrower than a Mini, 520kg. & Yes 4x100 PCD. (edit Noooo, I meant 4x110 also!!!!)360 36hp @ 9500 redline, 600 more like 45 @ 7000. Yes aircooled with gearbox & Diff in the back of the crankcase which combined with cars overall small size which pretty much rules out engine transplants without getting Really creative. Reputated as screamers in volume also but easy performance match for 850 Mini. Small size makes them stand out like little else. Roller bearing "built-up" crankshaft with one piece con-rods can make things difficult if anything's wrong in that department. edit: Actually thats a photo of my water-cooled Z, based on the N360's replacement, the Life, but same styling.(air cooled on right)

These things have a class little engine in them as standard, what would be the point of fannying about for months swapping it for soemthing else? Come on people.
I once spent ages repairing the engine in a Z coupe one, I got it going eventually and had a blezz about in it - it was the tits. if you can get a tax exempt one you'll have annual motoring costs of approx £80 for an insurance policy and £20 for juice. RESULT.
