^^ +1 Definately worth going. You can view the racing from the top tier of the 'shelf' (I think they call it for free) or you can pay to get into the paddock which allows you to get up to the start and amongst the cars, It's a tennar I think. Went last year and going again this year. I think this is the spiritual successor to the Festival of Speed. Some pics on my site here: more-power.co.uk/photos/bst2007/default.aspx

You GOTTA do it! It's a fantastic day out, the cars go from the sublime to the ridiculous and I prefer to be at the finishing line TBH. There's always a diverse set of motors sitting around too. Are the Mini lot doing their run down there on the same day again? They put on an autotesting area last time - good to see people having a laugh - the redbull promo vehicles made for some interesting handbrake turns ;D Get your ass over there fella and thanks for the reminder!

It clashes with the biggest VW show for campers each year so we miss it, might give it a go in 2009 though as this Dub lark is getting boring, RR is where its at ;D ;D

I've always wondered about this and never asked, so can anybody run their car there?

I'm sure there's a scan of the SM article on the Kitten/Aglia invasion on the Beardmore site.

I belive that BST is the longest running motorsport event in the World, so it would have to be For me, on a personal level, I discovered BST long after I first went to GFOS and it brings back the spirit of the late 90's GFOS for me. GFOS is still amazing, but has turned into such a huge corporate event. Let's hope the weather cheers up a bit for BST, I had a great day last year, got a bit sunburnt it was so hot, but the beer cooled me down What do people that drive down do about parking? I'll be taking the train as I find parking in Brighton a nightmare at the best of times. The speed trials just happens to use one of the big parking areas, which can't make life any easier.

Here's part of the Street Machine feature on John Teb's 105E and the Beardmores' Kitten. Was a great piece. What makes the Speed Trails great, for me at least, is that unlike the Festival Of Speed, there's no overdose of corporate sponsorship - the event only has one sponsor (a local car dealership), which keeps it focussed on the main event. Plus it's the one day my missus doesn't mind going to a car event, as while I'm lusting over metal in the paddock, she can go shopping in the Laines.

I rang to ask about taking part in the speed trials. And was told in quite a snotty manner by some old bloke who answered the phone that I would need to have a full race licence with at least 2-3 years proof of race driving. Could have been a complete crock, but it put me off asking again this year.

More than likely true. There have been a fair few accidents around there in the past years and with the boy racers hanging around there during the week its bound to make the organisers twitchy. On the parking front I personally would drive. We have made the whole seafront pay and display/permit only. As such its got rid of hundreds of vehicles that were parked there for weeks on end without moving. Parking in the east side has never been so good.
