I'm enjoying how the people that don't foot the bill, or attend either of the shows so far, are demanding track action As I say, we're considering options to keep everyone happy (as ever), but I'll never put myself in the position of nearly having a breakdown like Keith and I did last year. I got ideas... Keith's got ideas... fear not.

I think the problem is that it was so good this year. Usually you get a few moans, "the bogs were horrid", "not enough to do on the saturday" etc etc but there's none of that.

The question was asked "what would you like". You will get responses which are more akin to a kids Christmas List than a realistic programme. Also it is a mark of your god-like status that we now assume you can get us free use of Silverstone for the weekend and a face-off race between Stirling Moss and Mario Andretti in period Maserati open wheelers. All for £2 per car in. With free accomodation and a night of tawdry malevolent naughtiness with Christina Ricci too please. I attended both 07 & 08. I have realistic expectations. I don't much go for social events as I am not a naturally sociable person (although I like to think I am a convivial host and a considerate guest), I don't much go for entirely static shows as cars are dynamic objects and should be moving, making noise, creating atmosphere. I'm sure that what ever you have planned or are going to plan for '09 will envigorate and animate the faithful

i didn't get to '07, mostly thru not being a member on here.. but i did just go to '08 and it was an impressive turnout, but it was a little too static. it always seems that just a couple of items that bring the crowds together, such as a rolling road tent or even a build area, could actually get people into the spirit of things and generate some excitement and more interest over the course of the day.
all in all tho, a really good experience and am glad I got to go saw some really awesome motors both inside and outside the museum. cheers for a good day!

Wasn't just you Akku, didn't mean to offend, and really it has actually raised a wry smile, as its exactly the sort of thing I said to show organisers before I became one!

No offense taken. I was being generally ironic rather than responsively sarcastic.

While track action would be ace, an autotest would be simple enough to set up and run (although I guess insurance gets pricey!) and that would satisfy those of us who like to hear engines bellow.
LOL at Akku's christmas list rant! Sounds like fun!

I'm enjoying how the people that don't foot the bill, or attend either of the shows so far, are demanding track action Didn`t foot the bill but did pay my entry and attend RR07 Also not "demanding" Track action, but I share the same sentiments as AK, seeing cars parked up does nothing for me, seeing them used as they were designed is far more enjoyable It doesn`t need to be much ? an Autotest / Autosolo(All forwards and easier on the car) is great fun, a sprint with corners is even better..... Personally I`m not interested in straightline stuff, well not doing anyway. I`m sure You and Keithy will make the right decisions, as has been said, this is only input to a wish list Cheers Dom

While track action would be ace, an autotest would be simple enough to set up and run you volunteerin'? They used to always have an Autotest (AKA "Streetkarna") at Gary's Picnic back in the day. That rocked. Crazy business with V8 powered Cortinas and big ol' Muscle cars sliding about at W.O.T. with the General Grabber's smokin' Ah, themz waz da daiz

I'd certainly offer to help, although I've never run one before! I'd hate for the organising team to feel burdened by any event - surely there are enough people here who'd be willing to help out a bit? Spread the load so to speak?

Autotest is a great idea if we could get a big chunk of tarmac. Have to do it old-style with cones and a handheld stopwatch to keep in the spirit of the event. What about that top bit of gravel carpark that was doing nothing all weekend at Gaydon, would they allow it on there?
Also, I don't know if I've misunderstood it but I don't think it's fair that Hotwire should end up out of pocket after an event like this. If that's the case then please please put the prices up to cover it.

some autotest/track action would be great indeed..
It was a great weekend but last year's edition had more action allthough there seemed to be less cars.
also I missed the stadion speaker talking rubbish, that was awesome last year.. hearing that's what RR07 is about 50 times on one day wasn't boring at all!
