Got this (not a moment too soon as the oil in the car was boiling after a track session at Combe on Sat and the pressure light was flicking on at idle after until things cooled down a bit But where best to mount it. One thought was in a J car intercooler stylee on the front of the car under the bumper. Any ideas?

Why not simply behind the grill?

External mounted oil coolers are the way forwards Down on the left under the bumper,.. but tucked in, not full boso style,.. but kind visable if you look at it the right way

I was thinking about an external oil cooler on the tina but the only thing that worrys me is if a stone or something goes through it . Messy and expensive.

Take the nuberplate off,and mount the cooler under the bumper in the centre. Then paint the number plate letters on the cooler.

Are you allowed to have external oil coolers? Just wondered what would happen if you stopped after a long run and some old granny burnt her leg on the cooler while walking past the front in a carpark.

Yeah, I'm with the rest of 'em - front mounted, in place of the plate. You could always make a mesh stone guard to go in front to stop it getting holed! Are you allowed to have external oil coolers? Just wondered what would happen if you stopped after a long run and some old granny burnt her leg on the cooler while walking past the front in a carpark. I'm pretty sure it's allowed - the same could be said for side-mounted zorsts like on Locosters, but they don't seem to have any problems.

When I got My MK1 escort ten years ago it had an external mounted oil cooler in place of the number plate and I was always worried about some scrote slashing the pipe when I used it on the road so I eventually took it off. When its get rebuilt it might have to go back on now ;D

Put it in place of the R/H headlight as you look at it, you'll get by with only one ;D

Mine is mounted in a cutout in the grill. Not my choice, came like it but it does look pretty cool
