My friend has a dead Imp. Here are some pics of us trying (and failing) to revive it last year. We gave up and left it under a tree. Now someone's nicked the engine lid, so we need to get hold of one of those. He also wants to replace the engine - anyone got one or know where to track one down? (He's just after a standard one - my suggestions of a Subaru boxer or 911 flat-six fell on deaf ears unfortunately...)

Best bet is to head over to theimpclub.co.uk and register on the forum. Sure someone will be able to help Think there may even be someone near you who picked up a few engines a little while ago....! Any idea what's up with it and why it won't start?

If it turns, I'll get it running. I've only ever been defeated by one Imp engine in 20 years (140+ Imps) - and that was because the muppet who owned it before me had assembled it wrongly.
Where is the car?

Just cos something is good for you doesn't mean its good for everyone - for example Marmite does not make good Dog Food.

No idea - it must be something electrical but having replaced points, condenser, rotor arm etc and cleaned everything up it still wasn't sparking. He reckons it was running a bit rough when he stopped using it a few years ago anyway, so just wants to start again with a good engine!

Ooh, I was replying to skamanfrank there.
Impmann - it's in Luddenham in Kent, just outside Faversham, off the A2.

I know it - I used to live in Cranbrook.
Bollards - I'm in Northants and no plans to go daaaaan saaaaahhhf for a few weeks. If its electrical, replacing the engine won't help BTW.
Coil fubar? Or maybe king-lead into dizzy.
If it isn't urgent, I will be going to visit the in-laws in Rye, Sussex later this month/early next so could give it a look-see. PM me if you want to take that further.
ATB, Tim

Good man - it's not at all urgent, I'll talk to my mate and see when he's free and wants to play with it! ;D
