The Merc and the Micra went for their MOTs this morning. The Micra needed a few bits and peices to get its pass. Those few bits and peices ended up costing £150 and included a £15 clip for a steering rack boot, and a £6 head light re-alignment. I wasnt best pleased. But i'd already told them to just put it through because i had no intention of doing anything on it myself.
The more depressing news was to follow later in the day.
Fail points for the merc were,
O/S rear subframe mounting excessively corroded O/S rear brake pipe excessively corroded Parking Break efficiency below requirements O/S (sill) seat belt anchorage prescribed area excessively corroded.
It also recieved advisories for lots of different things, which included the slightly comical:
Body Corroding - yes isnt it.
And
Vehicle lowered - Whats that all about.
Anyhow now i have to see i'f i'm going to try and get it fixed for gathering, or speak nicely to my dad about borrowing his Mk2 Ashtray GTE

I get the 'Vehicle Lowered' advisory. My MOT tester has a bit of a sense of humour though and wrote next to it 'No Shiat'

Bad luck mate. Looks like it's doing the classic Benz "presto-changeo, steel-to-grot" trick. I knows all about that!

Yes, my Volvo's been gone so long its MOT has run out, so it's going to be MOT'd in Leicester.
Few advisories from last year:
'Vehicle has excessive corrosion'
'Exhaust old'
Better than the advisories on the Piazza. which included:
'Vehicle is coverd (sic) in weld patches and thick underseal'
'Exhaust noisy'
'Play in rear subframe mountings' (That'll be why it threw me off a roundabout at 15mph then, clever).

Mine is due on the 22nd. Advisory from last time: Underbody is covered in thick underseal... It is 20years old, it'll have needed a little helping hand along the way. ;D

On the McCoy last year I just got a verbal advisory; "I haven't bothered to do an advisory sheet cos they're exactly the same faults as last year"! In my defence I have now rectified most of the issues, better late than never. MOT'd the Kadett this week as I just noticed it runs the Friday before RRG Straight through, just found a wee bit of noise on a front wheel bearing and, not MOT related but the gearbox rear seal is leaking a bit. Both jobs that can wait for another day

They put 'thick underseal' as an advisory as they can't check for corrosion then. It's like 'sill covers fitted' as an advisory.

Mine went straight through week beore last. Mate of mine tested it,wasn't a dodgy one or anything, but it passed. One advisory was "Car coverd in wood" made me laugh anyway
