Posted this in my readers rides thread but probably the wrong place to post if for advice, so here it is again.
I have aquired a 7.5" Mustang axle for my Cortina which should be much harder (maybe even impossible with my engine) to break than a standard one without being much if any heavier according to my intewebby research AND its already 4 stud Ford bolt pattern, it looks very much like it will fit fairly easily and I have reports its been done before without much bother, an added bonus is that things like LSD's and gear kits are much much cheaper than stuff for an Atlas.
this is what it looks like,
I took a few measurements off it, but cos me back is acting up this week I cant get under mine to check it against a cortina one at the moment, if anyone has one laying around and can have a quick check to see how close it is i'd be gratefull.
its 109cm between the shock absorber mounting bolts, 98cm between the inside of the lower arm mounts and 27cm across the diff, between the top mounts before they angle forwards.
Also checked the ring gear to see if I could check the ratio but I'm not 100% sure whats what, it has D8BW 4210 AA1541 written on it if anyone has any idea what that means?
