You've got to go through London. Which car do you choose?
Rules -
1) Car must have been in production before 1985. 2) Car must have been a "normal" production car - no limited or homogonilised specials (ie a 205 GTI would be fine, a 205 T16 or Mi16 would not, Sierra Cosworth ok, RS500 not.) 3) Car must be standard (no Fiat 500's with 6litre engines). 4) Car must be generally affordable, (no ferraris, lambo's etc.) 5) You must obey traffic lights. 6) No motorway driving allowed. 7) There are no other cars apart from the racing cars on the route. 8) You can be the best driver ever. (allows curse word drivers like me to pretend) 9) Reliability is not an issue. 10) I can make up any other rules as I go along.
Personally I'd like to think that my 205 1.9 GTi wouldn't be too embarrassed. But I may prefer the R5GTTurbo, or maybe an Escort RS Turbo? I did consider the porsche 911 but I think that the handling might prove to be too tricky.
And you?

Hmm, tough one. SAAB 900 turbo, comfy but quick, or maybe a corvette stingray, 69 big block convertible, or a 57 chevy convertible. Dammit, too hung up on looking cool whil I do it
You didn't pecify UK

IMHO the stingray wouldn't be suitable. Handling and the rule about obeying traffic lights might find it out.
I think that the affordable rule may come into play too?
Saab 900's a pretty good shout though.

Although I'd prefer it if 'normal' traffic was still on the road.

Lotus sunbeam (is a HSR a bit too homologation special for a homologation special?) of if the sunbeams to rally would have to ba a Lotus Elan (hardtop) this sounds like a mint idea, didnt they do this in Retro cars, meet up in London in the middle of the night to play? it would be cool if we all got together and did it. Late supper at the Ace cafe and them race round London till it gets daylight

Whatever you choose, it'd have to be RWD just for some tail-out fun round Piccadilly circus / trafalgar square (I take it we are going that way).

A nice Sunbeam Stiletto, small and nippy around the traffic and still being able to keep up happily with the race. Front rad if thats allowed and plenty of 'wetterwater' or whatever its called - anything to curb the overheating! ;D
