Rode a mates Norco Torrent and fell in love with it..... 170mm Forks on a Hardtail just shouldnt work but it does oh so well on the Torrent, Norco obviously got their sums right Anyway, been looking for a frame for a few weeks, and then this complete bike came up: Picked it up on Saturday and it`s everything I hoped it would be.... now I just need the skills to do it justice ;D My Scott is now going to make way for this, so if anyone wants a very very clean SUB20 Scott, then let me know Cheers Dom

Looks good mate, but what is that contraption in the background? Some sort of homebrew 'cross bike with SID's on it & drop bars?? Well it started out life as a Raleigh 7005 framed Hybrid with curse word forks etc Which was built into a winter trainer, with a set of Alloy forks and Drop bars by the bloke I bought it off I bought a set of Carbon Cyclocross forks for it which were advertised as 1 1/8" Threadless They turned out to be 1" threadless and I cant find a headset anywhere that will allow me to use them..... The Rockshox (Not SID`s unfortunately but still air/oil and nice and light) were bought and fitted to the Scott, but TBH the geometry wasnt right with them on, so I put the scott back to standard to sell on and just chucked them on the Hybrid for now (No headset at the moment so just a means of fitting the wheel) So I now have a Hybrid, on drops and SORA integrated shift/brake levers, 38mm tyres (which wont fit the original Alloy forks) on Rockshocks forks that clear the tyres but the brake bosses are too far away for the 700c wheels...... Next step is either put it back on a conventional Headset and its original RST forks so I have brakes, or find a disc set upto fit with the Rockshox. Or find a 1" headset with outer cups to fit 1 1/8" headset sized frame Its a really nice bike, and rides really well as a daily, geometry is much better with the taller forks, would just be nicer with proper brakes ;D All / any suggestions gratefully recieved Cheers Dom

You can get adaptors that let you run canti's/v brakes on 700c wheels, or get a front disc compatable wheel & run a cable disc on it. Job done & works a treat with extra mud clearance because of no straddle cable for rim brakes

Could probably break it and see my money back though and put the proceeds towards a proper roadbike ;D

Nice, I got looking at Norcos in about 2002/3 when I got my first Identiti, they had only just come out here (I'd not seen em before that) and didn't know a hell of a lot about em. 170mm sounds like loads on a HT, Got 120 on my Identiti which seems to be enough, i know people do ride em downhill and stuff though, be a bit laid back for me. Cool though, these are very confidence inspiring on the rough and steep stuff!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Looks pritty darn nice! I'm not really a big fan of big forked hardtails, as they are not really good at anything, although my current ride is actually this:
