I always think same-marque transplants are neater somehow. Like Mr_Bo11ox says, it's sort of like what the manufacturers could have made.
Then again, if there are better engines around from a different manufacturer it's a bit blinkered just to go with one brand.
I was going to put a Ford lump in the Benz at one point ( ) - Cologne or Essex. I was never really comfortable with this idea though.
For some reason J-engines seem to be accepted under any lid. There was a Supra Turbo powered Merc I saw a while back. A bit odd, but the guy didn't get slated as much as he would've if he'd have put (gasp!) a BMW lump in there! ;D
