Nrrrggghhh.
Getting severly dicked off with trying to sort out the insurance on the bimmer.
Elephant want £100 more than last year. Dicks.
Problem is, everyone else is quoting me £700. Which is even more. Barstewards.
Anyone got any bright ideas?
It's not like I'm all that young any more, so why the sting? OK, so I've only got 1 year NCB and an SP30.... but come on??

I'm with Firebond - £140 TPFT limited mileage for the MK1, and £250ish TPFT for a 1994 Vento 2.0GL, again on limited mileage - because its over 10 years old, its classed as a classic car! Downside is both are classic insurance, so no driving other vehicles, limited mileages and no business use However, didn't use NCB on either of them, so still got my 7 years going spare to use on another policy, when i'll need to use a car for work I'm thinking, re-insure the Vento on a new policy in September for business use etc etc, and put the other Mk1 track car on the old Vento policy.

FJ are good, but they still wanted £300 for my Mazda Lord knows why it's that high, not as if I'd be speeding around the place... or maybe they knew my brakes would fail....hmmmm.... ;D

I currently have a trade policy for me and my wife (I am not a trader but as I buy and sell a few cars its possible to get one) this costs me £750 per year for both of us tpft and covers us for upto 10 cars (max value of any 1 car is £10,000). It also covers me for classic/modified/american/commercial and towing upto two cars. It also means I can tax any car belonging to me or not. All I have to do whenever I get a new vehicle is send them an email with vehicle type and reg no. and I am covered. The only problem is the ten page report I have to fill out every year (I can live with that ;D)
The only downside with this is because I can be insured on ten cars I seem to end up with ten cars (or more) which doesnt please the wife

When I had my MK2 Golf GTI the best quote I had was from Hyperformance and for the Imp I use Footman James.

Heh the trouble i have with footman james, adrian flux and sureterm type insuers is they don't recognise or give to any no claims bonus. Its attualy cheaper to use a mainstream company cous they give me 40% off for my 1 years NCB. They only relly seme any good for insuring a 2nd car but even then of your going to have a perminant 2nd car its probably better to get a NCB incase you ever need to use it on something modern!

I only use FJ on my second car because of the no claims problem. A guy i work with bought a VW camper and got rid of his modern car. He used a classic car policy for the camper and lost all his no claims when he went back to a modern on a normal insurance policy

Odd, because FJ will give a signed note to the effect of No Claims for the period which you were insured with them.
Whether the new insurance company accepts this or not is another thing entirely.

I don't know which company he was with. I just know he lost all his no claims. If he told me before he took out the classic car policy I would have tried to stop him.

Phoenix, which trade company are you with. I pay over twice that for my trade insurance and I'm looking to move insurers this year.
Also try Liverpool Victoria they were very good for my missus Polo.
I'm also with Lancaster on my Cortina.
The more you ring around the more you'll get.

Have you tried using confused, the online insurance broker? Run confused through google, and follow the car insurance link. Good luck
