Hello all, well things have been quiet for a while but all hell has just broken loose, I need an engine for an appearance on TV, the sort of competitive scrap based program you might find outside of the BBC ;D Format has changed to a home build competition but I'm sure you know which one, and I'm afraid I can't say to much YET !!!  Any how just thought I'd ask around, for the challenge we need an engine with an output of about 80 bhp which is easy to install outside of it's natural environment and for not too many pennies - there is a small budget.. Anything offered will be considered but it needs to be reliable, options so far have ranged from rover V8's to Peugeot diesels. It needs to have the necessary fueling equipment for the engine and a starter motor to make life easy. Please feel free to throw anything at me or bombard me with questions !! Cheers Phil ! |

i sugest anything with a mechanical fuel pump as it will save alot on wiring and stuff.

Classic, the merlin sounds mega, £50 ?!!!!!!!!
I think a VW flat 4 is the best solution but they seem to pull quite a bit of money at the moment ?

Might have a Lada 1.3 lump available soon, at around 80bhp.

Thanks for all the offers lads, but ebay came to the rescue again...  Its an XJ550 lump with carbs and some of the frame, aircooled so ideal for what we need. Just need to get a pair of coils for it and some plug leads and we are away... Oh yeah and it was £45 !!! |
