i can see the front panels such as the wings look the same on the mk2 estates/vans as the mk1, but are they the same? the body on the mk2 estate looks the same as the mk1, can anyone tell me the differences?

are the front wings and bonnet on a mk2 estate/van specific for the estate/ van only, or are they the same as the 2door/4door mk2 cars? or are they very similar but just estate/van parts only? In the same way that Golf3 late model cabrios have front panels that look like the golf4 but are special cabrio (so-called mk3.5) panels that only look like the golf 4? Does this make sense?

IIRC you can use MKII van front panels on all MK1s. Not that you'd want to.

Mk2 van/estate front wing swage line is an inch or so lower than the saloon wings as the mk2 van/estate is the same as a mk1 van/estate from the bulkhead back
