I thought Id start a thread on my Puch Mini Sprint
There a 1970s bike from the same company that made the Maxi mopeds.
I first saw mine in a local auction house, about 15 years ago. I bid on it. But got out bid, £12.
The next week I was down at the dump, in my village. Lots of furniture was dumped, with the auction tickets on them. There was the Puch too. Geuss the man didnt pay. So they chucked the stuff.
The bike was standard then. With full steel mudguards and chainguard. 20 X 1 3/8" steel wheels. just a little roadster bike.
I eventually found another boys bike. And 2 girls ones.
I stripped the bike down. Heres a pic of my other one.
I cut the flat brake bridge off the frame. And welded in a tube. So the brakes lower on the frame. I fitted 20 X 175 wheels. These have a bit thicker tyres, and the rim is smaller diameter, 406mm instead of 451mm. So the brake had to move. The brakes are MX1000 copies, that I polished off the white paint.
But might change them for other brakes I have as they have low arms. Which will suit my BMX that has a gyro spinner and no callipers.
The cranks are SR custom alloy cranks from an 80s racer. This has a single 52 tooth ring. Scrapes on the frame so I'll bash the tube a bit.
I hand polished a Mountain bike cast alloy stem. Fitted tall bars into it. Think there from a moped.
Theres a Shimano 3 speed hub in the steel 28 spoke wheels. With a chrome twist grip.
I'm going to change the wheels. I have Sturmey Archer 3 speed on Alloys. Can get a smaller cog on them. So higher gearing.
Also will fit a slimmer saddle too.
As I said I have 4 of these. Plus a Raleigh cruiser too.
Its getting the Klunker MTB style.
