hi all, love the site and old cars, so thought I would post some up of my own project. it is a mitsubishi lancer turbo ex, I got it 2 years ago and had been sitting in a barn with a damaged front end for 12years. after stripping it down, the rust was worse than I had thought. as you can see from the pics its had a fair bit of time spent on it. all the work has been carried out by myself, and I plan to use the car as a demo for my company when its finished.
unlike a lot of demo cars, this isnt a cheque book car, I havent spent much on it yet as I have made everything needed, front suspension arms, alloy rad/ intercooler, inlet manifold for 8injectors, fuel tank, exhaust manifold, (helps that I work as a welder in the automotive indutry),and even did a 16v evo head conversion which has forged pistons, l+b bottom end, arp studs and much more.
the rear was the worsed to do as it required the rear quarter to be cut up 3in then metal arches made up and welded on. the wheels on the rear are 11in wide and are from the brodie racing british touring car. I plan to run an emerald k3 ecu as I fit a lot of them, and tune the engine to approx 400bhp.
the front hubs are 200sx and the steering rack is a pug205 item, I did this as the old steering and suspension was knackered and I wanted something I can get parts for easily, the arms are items ive made myself, fully adjustable caster/camber.
theres no cage as ive got a baby on the way and need room for a child seat.
I'm trying to avoid it becoming a show car like vw's as thats not my thing, so it will hopefully be spray rover night fire, but with matt laquer so no shine,
hope you like it. more pics to come soon as I'm working late to make the oil catch tank, washer tank and rad overflow tank.
