Appologies if this is OT, but I reckon if anyone will know what to do with a few crates of matchbox, dinky, spot-on, Corgi, hotwheels, etc cars I have shoved up in the attic. I "collected" or maybe "accumulated" these over years and years since I was a kid but sadly the time has come to liquidate those assets (and maybe make space for more slot mags)
Obviously I could list them individually on eBay.
This would take ages and cost me a packet in listing fees and I'm not convinced that eBay is the ideal venue for me getting the best return on the price of these.
I could set up an eBay shop which might help matters.
In the good old days you'd take this stuff to a collectors fair and set up a stall.
Not sure if people still do that.
OK, I could box 'em up and sell them to a collector or a shop as a job lot but thats not going to get the best price either is it....
I know that with stuff like Lego, books, etc there are non-eBay sales sites which are for specialist buyers/sellers.
Any collectors of toy cars etc. care to enlighten me on how to shift these?
If it makes any odds the conditions vary from mint in mint boxes though to absolutely junk.

Maybe a classified ad in one of the collectors mags offering to send a list to potential buyers on receipt of a SAE

collectors fairs are still on the go - but the ones ive been to recently have become full of plastic curse word related to TV and film - diecasts are taking a back seat
a relative recently asked me to sell his solido / siku / dinky / corgi bus collection via ebay, he provided a rough estimate of price, but i found ebay sales were far below these estimates ( most corgi buses on ebay werent selling at all, even for 99p, but did sell as joblots, suggesting the market via toy fairs was still thriving)
one example was a solido bus he had estimated would fetch 95 quid, on ebay sellers couldnt even get 15 quid for 'em
his whole collection has now gone for auction at Vectis in joblots - and he's gutted with his bad investment

If the rates in the UK are structured the same way as ebay US, then the ebay Store thing lets you list your stuff as inventory for super cheap for months and years, but then you pay about 25% or so more when it does sell, plus your monthly fee to have a "Store".
The problem is on the search function. If someone searches for a Corgi Professionals set with skidmarked box, then the first pings back will be auctions and Buy it Nows only. Those with store inventory listed at a set sale price are listed way way down at the bottom after the auctions. So it's less than "featured".
If you have forever to sell, the store may be best way to get your price. Otherwise, blow it out in auction format. That's what Vectis is doing, so you can too.
By the way, all the Capri-related stuff? Send me a list, and let me shop. My helper here is a nutter for toy Capri stuff.

I'd seperate it into makes and models if you're going to ebay... as Blitz says, some people go mad for a particular type of car in all the forms so you're more likely to get a buyer for, say, 20 Capris of different size and ages than 20 mixed models. Plus it gives you the excuse to go through them all individually and get lost for a few hours

Cash in the attic would have a field day at your house!
I would suggest a collectors fair or an autojumble stall. There used to a collectors fair at Kelham Hall ages ago, but I don't know if they still do.
Failing that a stall at the Griffin next month perhaps?
